I think it helps that I'm a total data-hound. I love collecting data and analyzing it, and so I can look at the weight watchers points like that. I can definitely say that having to write down my portions and figure out the points before I eat them has led to a huge difference in my portions. I actually still get full, but I eat less and then the full feeling catches up with me rather than me just eating till all the sudden I'm stuffed. Eating too fast is one of my issues, so counting out my points and stuff before I start is really important for me. I still eat fast, but then I stop when I've finished eating whatever I wrote down and wait a while. I always find that I'm full.

BeeAsleep, you're way ahead of me on the exercise though. I've always hated exercise with a passion. But I really need to start doing it. I've been walking a lot more at work lately by parking and walking in (15 minute walk each way). I still hate it though! I'm hoping to carve in time to do the treadmill that is sitting and staring at me in my living room. Maybe tomorrow...

I agree with you guys about not being on a DIET but eating better. I eat really well as far as healthy good foods go, but I eat too much. So my portions could be adjusted down. I have really good numbers on blood pressure, sugar, cholesterol, etc. So, I keep thinking that moving more and eating less and being mindful is the way to go. I actually prefer working out to dieting...CONGRATS to all you guys who are losing like crazy. I am confessing that I am scared to get on the scale. I get so wigged out when I don't lose as much as I think I should. I should get my behind on the scale at least once a week. It is just fat, nothing to be scared about. :>D

Excellent Donnalyn and Sleepycarol!

I'm with you on the changing the eating habits vs dieting. I can tell that if I ate the way I used to, which totally seemed fine and normal to me at the time, I would quickly gain it all back. As it is I'm learning to make REAL choices about what to eat, including those days that I eat fast food or dinner out, and it's something I can see doing forever. I've done the atkins thing and other restrictive diets, and while they do work short term, they totally don't work for long. I can't live like that all the time, and when I fell of the wagon I would fall HARD.

I admit I felt great on atkins though. I think cutting out bread and pasta really made me feel great! But I can't live like that.

I weighed in last night (here at home) and my scales are registering another two pound weight loss. That makes 22 pounds so far. Since school is out I am getting more activity and doing more walking. The end of school is always tough since between stress and having our ag teacher grilling some it is hard to be faithful to a strict diet. A few days last week, after the babies were born it was easier to grab something through a drive-through than to fix something since we were on the go so much. I did stick with my Slim-Fast in the mornings and as a snack. I tend to not eat lunch when I am at home, which is not a good thing. I have been told it is far better to eat 5 or 6 small meals than one or two big meals.
I will be happy if I can continue to shed the weight, even at a slower pace. When the doctor talked to me she is still trying to get me on a stricter diet==The Ideal Protein Diet. I explained to her I have to change my eating habits and learn to eat healthier and in the right proportions or I will end up just gaining it back. I do NOT want to stick on that diet forever. She (the doctor) is following that diet and has been on it for over a year now. But whenever she eats a "regular" meal or two she has said she will typically gain back 5 or 6 pounds. So she returns to the diet without really going off. I figure if she gains 5 or 6 pounds (even if it is just temporary water gain) if she were trying to eat normally again she would gain most of her weight back. I guess she can rationalize that if she had the weight loss surgery she would be on a special diet for ever as well.

LOL I hear ya BeeAsleep!

I haven't even taken my starting measurements so I don't know about inches. I'm much more fixated on the numbers on the scale right now. Mostly I want to reach that 10% weight loss that is supposed to make me a lot healthier!

I was too sick to go to a meeting this weekend, but I had my husband drive me by the weight watchers place this evening to weigh in and I lost another 3.8 lbs last week. This is really great for me! So far in the first 3 weeks I've lost over 13 pounds. I hope I can keep this up! I'll hit 5% lost with another 2 pounds!

I think doing exercise helps me lose the most inches, eating less food helps with the weight on the scale...Too bad I can't quit my job and just eat right and exercise. (Yeah right) Every step I take in the right direction is good I guess. I just want it all now and I want it easy. Waaahhhh. :>D

I went to the doctor last week for an adjustment on my back. She ended up weighing me and was pleased with my weight loss so far. She measured me and it showed that I did NOT lose any inches. That was a big dissappointment!! Still, she said the weight loss was a good thing. I did tell her last week was kind of hard since we were running back and forth to the hospital with the new arrivals (born at different hospitals). She said to up my water intake as it helps remove the toxins from your body and helps clean your system.

Sounds like we're doing pretty well. Good luck with the cpap Donnalyn! I hope you love yours as much as I love mine. I can't even sleep without mine now.

My second week of weightwatchers I lost 3.6 lbs. So that's a total of 9.6lbs. Pretty nice start. I expect it will slow down here soon to about 1 a week though. Still, that's one gone instead of one on! This week will be interesting. I had the stomach flu and wasn't able to eat anything for a day and not much for a day or two after that. I wonder if that will have any effect for my week's weigh in. I'm still sick, now with laryngitis, and my husband and son are sick too. It's been a miserable week!

Upcoming is a trip to disney in june. I'm thinking the diet will go out the window for the 3 days we're there. But right back on after!

i have been on my own low fat, low carb diet since i had to have angioplasty done may 1st.. so far i lost 7 lbs...
i did get the cpap machine. last night was my first time using it.i believe i was a little confused re how it was i was supposed to feel with it on... pressure and all.. even though it was explained.. i just hope it works!
tried weight watchers diets... and most of the others .. to no avail...
i just do my own now.. i know calories,fats,salt,sugars,carbs..etc.. so i just watch what i consume.. lots of veggies, salads, little fruit., and some white meats.. low fat snacks. when desperate.
any exercise i do now is walking..can't walk that far yet without getting out of breath and tired.... i do keep trying everyday to make it a bit of a longer walk.
wish me luck..thanks..donnalyn
