I am new at this and my doc recommended a sleepweaver mask, does anyone have one?  If so how do you like it and what should I know..I have not had a cpap before just what I used in the hosp for the sleep study.
They said my number was 16.  Is that good or bad?  I do not know too much about sleep apnea though I have been reading some things on this website.

Thank you
Linda

Is 16 a high number? How does it range?
Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my questions, I am a little apprehensive about this whole thing. My doc is good but very busy, you need to know exactly what q's to ask him.

I am hoping I will not have trouble with the sleepweaver, my face is not too big and not too small. I had my eye on a leopard skin mask, lol. I will just be renting the equipment until I know for sure what I need then I think I will purchase it.

Again, thank you

Linda
the problem is not the pressure to stop apnea occuring, 16 in your case, but the high the pressure the more likleyhood of having mask air leaks
So If I have leaks, should I ask my doc to lower the pressure?
Ok, thank you. Wow that is great stuff, thank you so much

Linda
JNK - Why do you say to use a mask made by the same manufacturer as an APAP machine? Not heard this before and might just try it.

The amount of pressure needed to prevent breathing problems is the point of the therapy. So the trick is to get the right mask. My suggestion is first to try masks manufactured by the maker of the machine you get, especially if that machine is an APAP (or, as also called, an auto).

same mask manufactor as cpap are balanced as to expected leaks
Can you return more than 1 mask? I ask that because i had returned one and got a fitlife. When i used it only 2 nights it tore. i went last week to return it and the DME said no,I could not return it, the 30 day exchange was 1 time only.
Thanks,I already went to the DME Tuesday and asked for the supervisor, after waiting a long time,[I was told he was on the phone], he came in and talked to me.I explained my problem to him in detail and he still said the same thing the person taking care of me before said,I could only return the mask one time. I told him i thought he was wrong but that's where he stood his ground. I will be ok using an old one until i can get another but i was just wondering who was right?
