after reading about downloading software for the System One , i did a Google Search for the software (Encore Pro) and got a number of hits:

This information is usually best shared PRIVATELY, via PM or private e-mail. The manufacturers tend to monitor these forums and since the software, Clinicians Manuals, etc. are copyrighted, can and have demanded that their copyrighted material be removed or face prosecution.

Judy, you don't think that SleepGuide could be held legally responsible for materials that are publicly accessible through a Google search and which are not even stored on our site, do you?

Would love to know this as well. Don't know if anyone has legal expertise here. I removed my previous reply in the meantime because I do not want to place the SG board admins in trouble... or myself. But, as Mike said, these sites can be found easily with a Google search.
Further to this issue, I've been complimented several time privately or in public threads here about how well I educated myself about CPAP therapy and all that. One of the reason for it is that I believe strongly in empowering patients with as much relevant info and facts as possible. Getting detailed daily data on one's therapy is primordial for a succesful outcome in my view and, as a PR System One owner, I feel I have no choice but to take an "illegal" route to get at this data as there is no patient software available. If any comes out I'll get it and see if it gives me the same level of detail. If not, I'll probably keep using Encore Pro 2.2.
So I don't feel bad in sharing this info and doubt very much that Respironics would press charges against me (or this board) for doing so. I do not host these files nor anyone here. I also do not profit from using their software and ultimately, my own health is at stake here. My DME and the hospital that tested me seem quite happy with keeping me in the dark as much as possible about the details of my therapy but I believe my doctor will be very happy to see the detailed reports I have and the steps I took to improve my therapy. He's not a typical doctor in that way :)

No, no, you guys misunderstand. It isn't you personally, or sleepguide, it is the sites that actually contain the copyrighted material. By posting their URLs publicly you are exposing their risk.

Eh, if that's the case, we probably could care less. The good'uns won't let that stop them from helping us out answering questions about masks, fitting, etc.

Depending on who you work for, or in which state you work that info could stop some of our good techs from participating. Is a prescription required for the software? If it is then I am not allowed to participate on any site that gives direction on how to get it publicly. Now that could just be my place of employment. In states like La, or NY a tech has to have a state license. These types of post COULD put that license in danger.
The RPSGT is held to a code of ethics.
1.2 Ethics, Custom, Competency and the Law
Unethical conduct may involve violations of customs and usages of the Profession as well as actions that violate the law. All RPSGT Applicants/Certificants shall provide competent services and shall use all efforts to meet patient’s polysomnographic requirements. Failure to conform to these Standards, including conduct that violates moral principles, customs and practices of the profession or the law, shall be subject to disciplinary action as set forth in the Rules and Procedures. The RPSGT Applicant/Certificant shall act in the best interests of the patient at all times. Failure to conform to these Standards, including conduct that violates moral principles, customs and practices of the Profession or the law, shall be subject to disciplinary action and ultimate determination by the adjudicative authority as established in the Rules and Procedures. Such disciplinary action depends upon the particular circumstances involved and how the conduct in question reflects upon the dignity and integrity of the Profession.
Depending upon the circumstances, the Committee will take appropriate action, if any, consistent with the Rules and Procedures. Each RPSGT Applicant/Certificant has a civic and professional obligation to report to the appropriate governmental body any and all evidence that may come to his/her attention involving the alleged criminal conduct of any RPSGT Applicant/Certificant relating to the practice of polysomnography.

I misunderstood, Rock Hinkle. I was thinking that you meant that some "pros" would stay off the forum just because we sometimes PRIVATELY shared info on where to obtain software or Clinicians Manuals, or even if we mentioned changing pressure ourselves, etc. You KNOW I wouldn't want to lose YOU no how!!!! Nor any of our other current "pros"!

I do not think that talking about changing pressure is all that bad. It would be the actual "directions". I think that when seeking advice on PAP that you should be as informative as possible. For both the poster and the postee.
