The Forum's THE best way to get acquainted and make new friends if that's what you'd like to do. If you just want to educate yourself and monitor things for awhile, that's okay too.
Meantime, hope you enjoy exploring SleepGuide. There are several groups, one of which is specifically for new members, and several others that may be of interest. You can't hurt anything by just messing around, trying stuff out while you get familiar with how things operate!

My wish for the new year is that everyone should be given a list of sleep apnea websites, with sleepguide at the top.
It should be required reading for all those that are newly diagnosed, in my humble opinion.
Please for all those just starting out, before you give up, come here and let us help you with whatever is bothering you with your treatment. If you are exploring other options, besides cpap, ask questions and find out as much as you can about the options you are exploring.
We have a wonderful resource that is here waiting to help.

This board could not have come at a better time for me. I was just diagnosed with sleep apnea this past week. I went to a sleep center and at the begining of my sleep things looked great until about 3am and then as the tech put it all the bells and whistles started going off. I guess I stopped breathing about 30 times an hour (that is what my doctor told me later). and now I have to go back and sleep there with a CPAP machine so they can adjust my oxygen level. I think they called it tritration? The thing that scares me the most is not the fact that I need a machine, it is the mask that looks like it will give me the most problem. Looking at some websites, the cost for masks can be quite spendy and I do not know where to start to get a comfortable one. Can someone let me know what are the best on the market right now? My husband has trouble with noises in the bedroom so are any of the CPAP machines quieter than others? Also any good websites to start research would be helpful too as Sleepy Carol stated above. Where do I go for them?
Thanks for any help you can give me. Also what is a DME?

I second that- there are so many new members joining everyday. Welcome!
Do feel free to lurk or to jump right in. Nobody bites and the simplest question is taken seriously and might be just the question someone else was too shy to post.
I've been diagnosed since 4/2008 and still consider myself a newbie learning things everyday. It's a good place to become aware of new products and old remedies, like a sore nose, as well as make friends.

sleepycarol, would you be willing to give a list of the other websites.. The only one I monitor besides sleepguide, is cpaptalk. It seems to be a bit more technical than this site, but it's also a good place to learn pros and cons of various products
Anyway I'd be grateful if you would be willing to post your list of sleep apnea web sites
