As you may all have figgered out by now, I'm not really happy UNLESS I have something to gripe about. *wicked grin*

Yeah, well, the hospital called yesterday and despite being AMAZINGLY helpful and accomadating, managed to make me happy be giving me something to gripe about in return.

The aspiration biopsy is scheduled for 9 AM. BUT - I have to be to the hospital at 7 AM!!! On a cold, frosty November Michigan morning! I am NOT a morning person! I don't DO mornings, especially COLD mornings!!! I'm supposed to be there the 2 hours early because I have to have blood drawn. What they hay??? WHY can't we do the blood draw Friday or even Saturday before noon?? But that's not all!

The night before I have to shower w/an anti-bacterial soap. Say what? My husband likes Zest so I haven't used any soap but Zest for the last 40+ years!!! I don't even know if Zest is an anti-bacterial soap or not - so I, who HATE to shop, must run into town and find an anti-bacterial soap. But that's STILL not all!!!

I have to shower again the next MORNING! The MORNING of that 9 AM procedure that I have to be at the hospital at 7 AM for that means I have to leave the house at least by 6:30 AM for. So I take this nice, hot shower - and then have to go out in a COLD, frosty, November Michigan MORNING at this unGodly 6:30 AM hour.

Mumble, grumble. Any one of these things is bad enough - but to go out in the COLD, after a nice, HOT shower, that early in the MORNING?? These guys are SADISTS! Cruel, mean, vicious SADISTIC demons, I tell you! I sure mustta been one mean, miserable, nasty witch in my previous life to deserve this!!!

Besides - I'm not a punctual person. I'm a procrastinator. I'm habitually late for everything. I'll be late for my own funeral. The hearse will have an accident. 6:30 in the morning???? 6:30 on a COLD Michigan morning?? Cruel and sadistic, I tell ya, CRUEL and SADISTIC. They HATE me!

Mumble, grumble.

Ha! I'm a happy, happy camper. Now I have something else to mumble, grumble about. I HATE Fridays!!! Doctors all take all day Friday off or at best Friday afternoons off.

Hubby is 70 and has had one colonoscopy 5 years ago w/no info from the unknown gastro or his sleep doctor (we don't use the same doctor BECAUSE of the lack of info from this family doctor) other than you are good to go for 5 years now before you need another.

So hubby has it in his head he isn't going to bother EVER having another colonoscopy. When I was in to see my gastro I talked to her about it. She said if hubby changes his mind to call her office and she'll see to it he is scheduled BEFORE our deductables start the first of the year. She has 3 other gastros in her office w/her.

So today, the bull-headed Frenchman FINALLY agreed to scheduling a scope before the first of the year and its deductable start again after talking to his brother last night who is having some difficultlies. Except he doesn't mention it to me until AFTER noon!!!

Did I mention I HATE Fridays??!!

Don't get sick around here on a Friday ' cause your only option is ER from Friday afternoon to Monday morning. AND I won't be able to make a phone call to schedule him until AFTER my freaking FNA on Monday. They tell me I have to stay 2-3 hours after the procedure which takes it to noon and, of course, all the doctors' offices close for lunch from 12 to 1 or even 2.

Did I mention I HATE Fridays??!! Mumble, grumble.
Judy it is so nice of you to find dates for the hubby. Lol
Yeah, well, misery loves company!!!! I'm scheduled for my (supposedly) annual colonoscopy 18 December.

If ONLY I could convince him to do a sleep study!!!! He snores, he stops breathing, he has frequent nose bleeds this last year, he has high BP tho controlled w/meds ... but he wouldn't even use the ApneaLink I brought home from the hospital's sleep lab for free overnight screening. *sigh* Damn bull-headed frenchmen!!

Has it been 20 degrees yet in Indy at 6:30 in the morning?? It has here!!!! *sigh*

Refrain yourself, 99?? Why start now, this late in life?? *wicked grin*
By the way, BeeAsleep, I think one of the reasons for the difference in "prep" for our FNAs is mine 1] is being done in a hospital radiology department 2] the H1N1 flu (there've been confirmed cases admitted and treated at this hospital) 3] MeRSA is more prevalent in hospital settings.

I know when I asked if I could just have someone drop me off and then call to be picked up rather than having someone sitting for 4-5 hours they said that they would prefer that, that they are allowing only ONE HEALTHY visitor per patient and NO CHILDREN visitors.
i was thinking of the cold weather and a dog stuck to the lamppost

Hi Judy--

I have been refraining from posting to this thread because I can really understand the misery of an early morning appointment in the frigid midwest after a steamy shower. Bundle up in the most comfy clothes you have!

One of the appointment slots I can't stand is when you need to go for a test that requires no food (ok with me) and NO coffee-- and is scheduled at 2.30 pm -- so, NOT OK. I walk into the doctor's office ready to kill someone...

Good luck with your tests.

Jan
Yup, yup, Jan. I understand exactly where you are coming from. I always tell my gastro's staff if I'm not scheduled for the first or second scope of the day, don't even bother to schedule me at all.

For that matter, ANY procedure, I want to be scheduled amongst the first 1-3 in the morning - except in the winter. After 27 years of driving winter roads I don't want to leave the house before 10 AM.
