I started with a salt water sinus rinse, it worked fairly well. I heard about the neti pot and decided to try it. I liked it less than the salt water rinse - it ran through gravity, and was a little uncomfortable to use. I had read about the nasal irrigation systems - & eventually bought a Grossan Nasal Irrigation system. I found it on the Internet, Now, I have been told there are several types. I do use the neilmed system in it. I have had chronic sinus for a long time. I started the nasal irrigation with Grossan I think it was last fall. It has worked wonderfully well for me. I do it usually twice a day. I still have some sinus drainage, but I have not had a sinus infection this past winter season - it doesn't get too cold where I live, but I still got winter sinus infections. This was a great change for me. I hope you find what you want. RUTH

I love the NeilMed rinse.. It gives you the exact measure of salt that you need and it is easy to use. I never could get the hang of the netti pot. It is great for allergies and colds.

I haven't tried both, but I did get a neti pot from sheer desperation about a year ago. I have to sleep with my mask, and I was willing to try anything to clear up my stuffed nose without having to resort to afrin.

It does work immediately, but I find that after about 30 minutes my nasal passages just swell right back up again. It might be that my problem wasn't so much junk in there as it was just swelling. So the salt water helped that, but only temporarily.

It is a little difficult to use, and messy since you have to bend over the sink just right to get it to not end up with your shirt all wet. And with my passages so swollen sometimes it took FOREVER to get thru just one side. The other product sounds like it might have gone faster.

Well I think if you really want a good nasal sinus rince you should try ALKALOL it is a mucus solvent and cleaner and it also kills germs and bacteria Here is there web site to read up on it: http://www.alkalolcompany.com/faq.html

I us it and it is Great and it has a little nasal cup to use with it I personally use it 50/50 with mixed neilsmed saline I also mix the neilmed saline with distilled water, and I wash my hands thoroughly and am extremely careful about using extremely clean technique, because you are putting this stuff up into your sinus cavity and you can introduce bacteria up there and get a very bad sinus infection, especially with the other sinus and nasal rinces! And that is another reason I like using Alkalol, because it does kill bacteria thus not as easy to get an infection with it. Anyway it might be worth your time to check it out and try it!
