About 11:30AM yesterday I got the call that I had been waiting for.  The DME had figured out a way to break even with my healthcare provider.  I had to pay them $100 and then we were good to go.  I was THRILLED.  So I went to pick it up when I got off work (someone actually stayed after hours so I could do this.  They close at the same time I get off work and I work 45 minutes away).

The whole drive from work to the DME I was wondering what kind of machine I would get.  Was thinking probably used, maybe a Sandman or Intellipap or something like that, right?  So I get there and, miracle of miracles, I get a brand new Phillips Resperonics Auto-CPAP with C-Flex and Heated Humidifier!!!  Me:  O_O  "That's $100 even?  Here's the check =D  *if you want it back you will have to pry it from my cold, dead hands*"

So I get home and read the literature like a good patient and then I take it upstairs.  I tell my husband (The Supreme Skeptic) that I will no longer snore.  He laughs at me.  He then states that there is nothing on this Earth that has the power to make ME stop snoring.  I smiled knowingly and basked in the knowledge that I would get the rare satisfaction of proving him WRONG.  *My husband is a card carrying member of MENSA so it's not often I get one up on him*

Up the stairs I go with my new buddy Mr. Pap.  I put him by the bed and go get a shower.  He was very easy to set up and the mask was easy to adjust to get the leakies out.  It is now about 8pm.  I think to myself, "There is literally no telling when the last good night of sleep I had was...  screw it, I'm going to bed now."  So I lay on my right side for a while and then I lay on my back a while and then turned on my left side a while.  All the leakies were out so I turned back on my right side and proceeded to fall asleep.

I recall my husband coming to bed...barely.  ......  I awoke at some point and my nose was cold so I turned the humidifier heat on 2.....   I actually dreamed that I over slept because I was sleeping too well.....  there were other brief awakenings through out the night whenever I would move but they were very brief.

Today my husband calls me at work.  "How did you sleep?"  "I slept really well.  I feel pretty good and actually feel fairly rested today.  Did I snore?"  ".......No.....  you didn't"  I could hear the amazement in his voice.  He said, "That's a pretty amazing little piece of equipment there.  Just imagine, before they made those people just had to snore all the time."  He's not just smart...  he's also a smart___.

So anyway, I didn't try to nod off on the way in to work this morning (45 mile drive one way) and I didn't slump and nod off at my desk today.  I didn't have to get an energy drink or coffee.  I am really looking forward to going to bed again tonight (and may do so early again).  I can't wait to get into deep sleep.  It may honestly have been years since I've had that.

Thank you all for all your help!!!

Allison, that's great news!

Sounds great! I use an older RemStar w/ C-Flex, so I assume it's similar. I use #3 humidity most often. The fact you had a good experience on the 1st night is VERY encouraging, Allison. It takes about 3 months, generally to feel really good. As for me, I was a "new" person after the 2nd night, the 1st month was filled with weird vivid dreams, then I had a mild setback for a couple months, and by 6 months I was really improved.

Let us know how you are doing, ok?

Gordon
that is excellent
it is 2 years now for myself on cpap and i am still exhausted but do know i must stick with it
but like i said that is very good news for you and i am so glad and pleased for you both
Outstanding! I'm thrilled for you. I felt better after 1 night too.....and as Gordon mentions...there are a few ups and downs...but it is worth it to dream again....sleep deeply and feel rested.
Good for you! I can't compete with that price :)
Good luck on your way to better sleep and better health..
You should look into new ICON PAP from Fisher & Paykel .. They have a Re-Pap program that would allow you to get the newest best looking Smallest, Quiet PAP in the world... Link http://www.sleeprestfully.com/FPMask.asp
Congrats on getting a great machine.

Just do not be disappointed if you hit a few bumps in the road -- know that they will pass and may you have many more great nights.
I am so happy you have gotten a machine that works for you. It is so nice to to read someone doing the happy dance
