ok, so i'll just call out the 500 lb. gorilla in the room. yes, my nostrils are enormous. now, onto the serious question I have about this photo i just snapped of my nose with my iphone. see the sore: it's kind of between the nostrils and clearly caused all of a sudden by my Activa nasal mask. but i've been using this thing successfully and without incident for about a year. What changed?

OMGosh! Ick! I hope I don't have this to look forward to! Could it just be acne? Kinda looks like it! I'm using nasal pillows.
looks like irritation from this viewpoint...

I have to tell you, though, that I am really laughing and shaking my head back and forth...

If anyone would have told me a month ago that I would sitting here on a Saturday night on my computer and looking at (and interested in) pictures of nostrils and beard stubble....well, I would've never believed them. Just goes to show ya...
definitely not acne. it's a wound that kind of has a flap of dead skin dangling from it. i just put some neosporin on it to prevent infection. the more i think of it, it might be because i'm just starting to use the heat these days because the weather's getting colder, and the heater dries out the air. Maybe I need a room humidifier so that the rest of my face doesn't flake off ;-)

Have you had a cold?

I am getting over a cold and my nose has become irritated from all the blowing and wiping. At least I don't have any actual sores (at least yet :)).
Nope. No cold.

your blood is to rich and needs cleansing

try some liver salts
WOW Mike....I think this should be your new FaceBook photo....:>D

Is your sore any better? My dentist gave me a dental paste that protects against those nasty cancer sores I get, maybe it would cover your sore at night long enough for it to heal..just a thought.

By the way, you didn't win the LARGE nostril contest, I am still in the running for the winner. b
I am still curious about Mike's original question. What would cause this to suddenly happen after uneventfully using his Activa nasal mask for a year?
I'm sure if you cut a little circle of mole skin and put a dot of Neosporin in the middle and wore that at night it would clear right up. And if it is rubbing on something that would protect it until it heals. I used to do that when I would get a sore on the bridge of my nose. By the way, those nostrils don't look so big to me (0;
sore's healing. getting a little better day by day. not sure what caused it yet, other than my dry skin/ heater theory...

that could be, Cindy. great thought. my wife is in her last few weeks of pregnancy and the amount of real estate I get on the bed gets more limited with each passing day, resulting in some pretty awkward sleeping positions. i keep offering to sleep on the couch, but i think she likes the companionship of mutual suffering ;-)

Just a shot in the dark here, if it's not because of your heat/humidity theory. You may have simply put the mask on just a bit differently and put pressure on your nose in just the right way. Or perhaps it's just a scratch. (said with a British accent)
Cindy. P.S. I hope all is well with your nose.
