Hmmm. I have Kaiser Permenente and they always have me go to a clinic and hook me up with dozens of wires. I've been about 4 times.

It's very sad and I'm sorry for their loss. I'm glad I stubbornly stuck with the very hard adjustment to the machine. I use it every time I sleep. If only my husband did! Please anyone out there struggling to use your machine keep working with it. M…

I don't know much about this but I saw a documentary on sleep (think it was a NOVA program) and they did a study where they woke someone up during different stages of REM dreaming. They said we used to think that we only dream in REM but found there…

I think if you have a pressure sore and keep putting pressure on the same place it will not heal. Now if you take the pressure off the area, clean and dry is good. Speaking from painful experience and stubborness, trying clean and dry with padding a…

I would recommend keeping the area clean and dry. It doesn't really need more than that, unless it starts turning red(sign of infection) or an increase in the pain. Hope it heals up quickly for you.

Sorry RChatty, there are sometimes unpleasant things that can happen with pap therapy. It was very hard the first 2 years. I don't usually have much trouble anymore since getting my new apap. Put on the mask and I'm out for most of the night. Usuall…

Wait a minute. Are you all trying to scare us poor beginners to death? What's the deal behind swollen noses. I don't want one of those!
June 1
I used a hybrid mask last night and actually slept fairly well but my nose this morning is worse. My whole nose is swollen and one of the glands under my jaw is tender.

besure the mask isn't to tight as well. I tend to over tighten when trying out new mask for review and end up with some really nasty red sore spots at times.

Thanks Mary. I'll look into it. Usually this mask is fine for me (Mirage Quattro ffm). I only have occasional problems.

bonesigh, I never found anything to accellerate the healint from a pressure sore. You're right- you have to take the pressure off that area long enough for it to heal completely. Duoderm (you can buy one 4"X4" on Amazon- it's expensive) is often use…

Hello all, I haven't been on for a while. Things aren't perfect but they are better. I just got a replacement mask, same I usually wear. Works fine for me but this time I was lazy and did not put moleskin on my nose for protection against a pressure…

None of the times that I've had a study done has the "tech" spoke to me other than say "stay on your back" and other various commands. I've only spoken to the sleep doctor.

I'm 45 and pretty sure I've had apnea for over 10 years.

I hate to say it but my memory has not improved at all. Been on Bipap for almost 3 years now. 100% compliant. Have a new machine that I have logged in around 900 hours now with AHI below 2, leak rate usually zero. Doctors say that I probably suffer…

Hi Janet,
I have been thinking about a good answer to your question. I am struggling between wether you should ask a couple of benin questions vs. going straight to the ADD/ADHD website info. there are a couple of news articles and study's receiently published that offer a suggestion that sleep may be the cause of hyper behavior. I am iclined to suggest the following articles:
www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22881407
www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/04/080407160751.htm
This is a place to start. If they want more information, They can contact me through this website and I will be happy to share my experiences with hyper behavior and sleep apnea.

Thanks for the reply. I'm due to go back to the sleep doctor in May. I'll let the Dr know how I feel if I can last that long.. I did have a few days a couple of weeks ago when I actually did not get tired at work, but I was very tired when I left work driving home. I believe my setting on the cpap is 11. Not really sure. I'm sure if I could lose 30 plus pounds, that would help but 99.9% of people who lose the weight will not keep it off including me and the 10 times or more I lost 30 plus pounds only to gain it back.

Yup, if you've got insurance, your insurance dictates which local DME providers you can use. Just because you bought your CPAP elsewhere does NOT mean that your insurance contracted providers can't or won't provide your masks and other accessories.…

Linda, thanks your your help. When I call Apria, I wil ask them why they did not offer me a payment plan. Good luck!

Hi Candace, Apria is giving me a payment plan for 10 months, after that I will buy it if I still need it. In the mean time, all of the folks here are so helpful they told me the best cpap to get and low and behold, Apria did not give me a newer mode…

I believe that individuals should be free to make decisions for themselves. This goes for the patients and the providers. The patient is free to decide what to do and who to pay for what services. The provider is free to decide what services he offe…
