New Medicare guideline

So, I haven't gotten all the details, but from what I am understanding, as of October 1st, the person doing a medicare patient has to be either an RT or RPSGT... anyone else hearing about this? I am…

Hello! We're new around here...we're a sleep lab in Scottsdale, AZ with 4 beds. I'm a RN working at the lab and we also have a RPSGT who will be making posts. We'll comment more once we figure this site out! =)

Well, I finally took my test on Dec. 5. Figuring I will hear sometime after the window closes on 12/12. The waiting is what is killing me!!!

Sleep professional with sleep apnea.
To other sleep workers. I find self treatment or advice difficult. When I am with a patient algorithms play 90 to nothing in my head. When it comes to sleep or apnea issue for me everything stops. I go straight to mortality and co morbidity.

I have been eligible for my boards since May, but been trying to come up with the funds... between vacation and back to school stuff, looks like I'm finally going to be sitting for them in December as well.

Wow... glad so many people have joined. I have not been real active, but did just change my email address to my work address... so I will actually see my emails now. I've been an RT for over 25 years, will have my 1 year anniversary in the sleep lab in about 3 weeks... I tease my patients that I am the walking text book of sleep disorders... I have them all :) I've done hospitals, rehab and homecare before starting at the sleep lab. I am excited that we are expanding this next month to become a 4 bed lab, so I will have people to bounce stuff off from. Glad to see you all here!

I am an RT with over 20 years of experience in the treatment of Sleep Apnea. 13 of those years I spent as an RT in the homecare setting. Nice to be here!

Okay I will describe last night's dream. I teach school and our district built a new school (not really happening). The school was huge and had many, many hallways with twist and turns. The rooms were not marked in any manner. Every time I left my…

I agree with most of that. There are pros and cons to both of our solutions. I do not want to turn this into a free market vs government debate. we could argue over which is the puppet and which is the puppet master for days. As it is I still have t…

Rock, From looking at your avatar, I assume I am quite a few decades older than you. So I knew a few decades before "the current economic situation" that there are "good and bad" apples in both government and private business. In private businesses…

I do not believe that licensure will drive up prices. As I said before the prices are based off of the doctor, the lab, and the insurance companies that are involved. The sleep tech makes about 5% of the overall cost for performing the study. Someti…

I would worry that the unit may over heat if the lid is on it, even if the hose is going through a hole. I would add an additional opening near the air intake if it was me.

Prior to getting my diagnosis of sleep apnea and getting it under control, I didn't dream much.  This is probably pretty typical since we don't receive much REM sleep (is that the stage where you are dreaming?).    After starting therapy, I started…

Try to readjust your headgear as suggested. Can you feel air leaking into your eyes? Have you checked with your doctor? Pink eye sometimes goes around and if you are having trouble that last all day you may want to check it out.
