Sleepycarol, I found a working link to the site that has the blogs for cpap critic http://www.blogcatalog.com/blogs/cpap-critic-com.html
September 23, 2009
I too get an error message and unable to go to the actual site.
September 23, 2009
I really wish that I could have read this story, but it wouldn't let me go to that page. I got some sort of parameter error. I have no clue what that means...Do oy have another link?

Your site is looking really nice. It was a very good article. I think that sometimes we as medical proffessionals forget that we are treating human beings. It is usually the smallest of things that remind us.

This is my first attempt at writing something personal about myself on the blog. I guess it is all part of the process of creating a successful blog. Take a look inside one of my random memories of helping a patient. at http://cpapcritic.com James…

So often we talk about the study, techs, or doctors. It is all about the mask.
August 6, 2009
I really like the swift. it is my favorite nasal pillow mask.
August 6, 2009
I use the Swift LT for Her. I love it....I tried 2 other masks before this one. It is light weight and comfortable and I like the nasal pillows.
August 6, 2009
Great feedback! I think it's a great mask! Good to hear you are on track, stay with it!

Dr. Jones, What about the DME company. Billing for equiptment that is not being used, no followup? That is called insurance fraud! Many insurance companies now require compliance downloads to continue payment. What happened to this patient is tragic…

I will second a recommendation for this mask. I just re-started CPAP therapy for the 4th time and this mask rocks! I think my failures can be partly attributed to not finding the right mask. During my sleep study they used this mask and I slept all…

John, You need to get checked again. This time you need to be aware of what you are getting for your dollar. Search around, ask questions about the different sleep labs in your area. Ask on this forum if anyone can suggest any labs in your area. Mak…

I have a Respironics pre-M Series Bi-PAP Auto w/Bi-Flex and despite I don't like the Respironics I'm about ready to switch to using it.

I have toyed w/the idea of increasing the Ti Maximum. But haven't done so - yet.

I've also toyed w/the idea of setting Exhalation to Fast. It was suggested that we set Exhalation to Slow when Medium didn't work but Slow doesn't work for me either.

Thanks, Jim.

Resmed VPAP Auto, assuming part number is the model number, PN 184424. This was the January 2008 release, not the July 2008 released Resmed VPAP Auto 25. It comes w/a MUCH MORE comprehensive Clinicians Manual (NOT Users Manual) than the Resmed VPAP Auto 25 does.

The problem is in Spontaneous mode, NOT in Auto mode. Auto mode works wonderfully.

There is a too abrupt transition between inhalation and exhalation. At the end of my inhalation there is a "puff" of pressure before exhalation begins. It is almost like the VPAP thinks I take too long to finish inhaling and has decided like it or not its giving a blast of pressure BEFORE dropping in EPAP pressure.

I also use the S8 ResLink and Nonin oximeter and ResScan 3.7 software and could extend the graphs out if that would help any.

IPAP is currently at 11, EPAP at 6 and PS at 4. All other "comfort options" are Default settings.

Do a search in this forum for my post Subject:

"Resmed VPAP Auto Users - Question"

It will give you an idea of what you could be getting your friend, Keith, into.

At the price of these Resmed VPAP Autos and VPAP Auto 25s there is NO EXCUSE for these RRTs NOT to know the product they are delivering and how to PROPERLY program them.
At 1:46pm on July 8, 2009, Judy said…
Ooops. I forgot. NONE of us have been able to find a local DME RRT who has the SLIGHTEST idea of how to handle this situation. Duh!

THAT would be wonderful, Jim!! 'Cause I sure do have a puzzle for him to work on!!!

The January 2008 release of the Resmed VPAP Auto (not the July 2008 release Resmed VPAP Auto 25). Altho there ARE 2 VPAP Auto 25 users who have encountered the same/similar problem. All in all there are 10 of us who've encountered this particular situation.

I enjoyed your cpapcritic website. I even made a couple of comments. BUT the CPAP Wizard blog would NOT let me make a comment or ask a question. Since you were "in the field" for some 20 years I had high hopes that you had access to an RRT experienced w/the Resmed devices or at least knows how to READ AND UNDERSTAND the Clinicians Manual. They seem to be scarce as hen's teeth!!!

Yup, if you've got insurance, your insurance dictates which local DME providers you can use. Just because you bought your CPAP elsewhere does NOT mean that your insurance contracted providers can't or won't provide your masks and other accessories.…

Linda, thanks your your help. When I call Apria, I wil ask them why they did not offer me a payment plan. Good luck!

Hi Candace, Apria is giving me a payment plan for 10 months, after that I will buy it if I still need it. In the mean time, all of the folks here are so helpful they told me the best cpap to get and low and behold, Apria did not give me a newer mode…

I believe that individuals should be free to make decisions for themselves. This goes for the patients and the providers. The patient is free to decide what to do and who to pay for what services. The provider is free to decide what services he offe…
