- With all do respect, we were not recommending treatment or giving a prescription for treatment over the blog. We were simply stating that there are alternatives to the CPAP machine. According to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine an Oral Device is recommended as the first line of treatment for mild to moderate sleep apnea. This is not our opinion just restating the information documented. We did not mean to offend anyone or to advertise in anyway. Sorry if this came across the wrong way. Hope everything works out.

- The dme companies have contracts with the different ins companies and the ins companies contract for a specific amt. It's possible that one insurance co will contract for a mask for 50. while another will contract for 250...the dme co really doesn't have an option where this is concerned. Since the online companies aren't dealing with insurance companies, they can price their products according to the amt of profit they want and can price lower. - Allison, don't get discouraged about not getting you machine today. For most of us there is a time between getting insurance authorization and the DME having your machine in stock and arranging a trip to your home. It would have been great had it happened toay, but hang in there if it takes longer.

- Allison, glad you're finally getting your follow up. Unfortunately I think your experience is the norm. The doctor has to get the results look them over, dictate a report, and sign off on it before they see you. Only my experience mind you. It's funny how their lack of urgency can contribute to the feeling that sleep apnea is no big deal.
