It is now about a year since I got my last surgery. 3 months after I got out a full in-lab PSG study that showed that I was completely cured. I've now completed my first
annual sleep test.
How have I experienced this first year?
I need hardly tell how nice it is to get rid of my CPAP, it is wonderful.
The first 7-8 months I had a strange feeling in my remaining Uvula. It was not unpleasant, just weird. I think that it has been a kind of a phantom sensation of still
having my full Uvula. I have read that there are some nerves in the Uvula. Then
this feeling disappeared, and today I just have a normal (but much smaller)
Uvula.
At my first PSG study after my surgery, they found a little snoring I did not have before my surgery.
The new result from my annual follow-up sleep tests shows that I still have no Apneas or
Hypopneas, so I'm still fully cured, but my snoring has largely disappeared again.
Simultaneously, I was studied in the nose and throat, which showed that everything was very nice looking.
I think that when you once have or have had Sleep Apnea so you will always have a lot of focus on your quality of sleep. I've had an extreme focus on this, which may be
a problem.
Even people without sleep apnea may have a bad night. This, I immediately perceived as though my sleep apnea had perhaps come again.
I have talked this through with my Sleep Doctor and my ENT, and we agreed that I must now try to "forget" my fear of Sleep Apnea. In my situation there is only a minimal risk that I might have a relapse because my soft palate and my tongue are
not affected.
So I will now try to "forget" my former Sleep Apnea. I will nevertheless from time
to time look in to this website.
I will have my next sleep study (and maybe the last) within 3 years.
If someone responds to this thread, I will of course respond back, just as anyone has questions you are obviously free to PM me.

Henning, I am very happy for your good results. I suspect that the tonsillectomy was 95% of the cure and the nasal surgery and uvula trimming were 5%. What do you or your doctor think ?
