Vicks on Filter with Q-Tip?
Is putting Vicks on filter with a Q-Tip not advised? A member asked the question here:
one thing I do often.. is to use the liquid vicks steam inhaler and using a qtip.. put a dab on my filter.. or just draw a liquid line inside my mask.. it smells so good and opens my nose for the night.. has anyone tried this? I dont suggest putting it in the water.

It's working inside the mask and the liquid vicks doesn't have any precautions against using it on plastic (or whatever these mask are)? Sounds good to me.
I don't know about the filter. Where do folks put the aromatherapy disks?

A few drops of the Pur Sleep oils or essential oils are put on an absorbent pad that is placed near the CPAP intake. A cotton makeup pad on a small plate, coaster, or clean ashtray would probably work as a place to put the scent.

I am a bit confused; I don't know what "liquid vicks steam inhaler" is. Vicks sells a steam inhaler that is a small hot water vaporizer. Vicks VapoSteam Liquid Medication is a cough reliever that is a sort of liquid form of VapoRub.. Vicks VapoRub and Vicks VapoSteam are cough remedies, not decongestants; they just create a cooling sensation that makes it feel like you are breathing better.

I haven't tried this, but dabbing a little liquid Vicks inside the mask sounds good, Mike. Or putting it on the filter, but I don't even know where's the filter in my CPAP machine or if it even has one.

Sonia, look around your cpap. Filters should be changed regularly and you can get the filters cheaper on line than at the DME. The filter goes where the air intake is. I am going to assume all machines have an air intake somewhere.
I love the smell of the Vicks VapoSteam as well. But I wouldn't put it directly on my filter. I would be afraid of it somehow clogging the filter and reducing the air flow. So many things have carrier substances in them that I would worry it might have enough "stickiness" to it to have the dust and stuff cling to it.
I have used the Calm from Pur-sleep and love it. I have used pantiliners and cut them into pieces (don't have to be huge pieces, but large enough to hold the drops) and so one pantiliner can give several pads. The pads typically have a barrier liner for protection and the absorbent material holds the Pur-sleep and it seems the scent last longer using these. The generic liners are very good for this. I would assume you could do this for the VapoSteam as well.

I have been using the VapoSteam in my mask but it does last longer when placed near the filter on dabbed on the filter. I dont get any leftover residue in the mask as the VapoSteam seems to evaporate completely I love the idea of the pantyliners. Thanks for the suggestion!

When I first started using Pur-sleep Aromatherapy I wanted a clean pad. The ones supplied at the time were reusable and I am too lazy to wash them daily. Others suggested to keep reusing them. Bret has since came up with a "disposable" pad that can be reused. But I find that they don't hold the scent well and by morning I can't detect the aroma.
Hey you need to be a "real" man to waltz into your local Dollar General, grab a pack of pantiliners, check them out (no fair peeking to see if anyone you know is in the store:)), and then carry them to the car, drive home, carry them into the house, cut them up for ready use, store them in a container that nosy friends can find. :) Especially if you aren't married. LOL!!!! :)

i put my cpap inside a shoe box with an open jar of vick near the rear filter and turn on my machine and put the lid on the shoe box, oh i regulate the vicks by using the lid partly on so as not to have it to strong

I used to work for the phone company and one night we had a driving rain that had filled some radio waveguides (rectangular copper pipe that connects the radios to the antennas on top of the tower) with water, and the waveguides needed to be dried out. I went to several convenience stores and bought all of the fluffy white ladies' products that they all had in stock (but no pantiliners). Tthe clerks had no clue why I was buying all of their ladies' hygiene products with a corporate AmEx card. I drove up to the radio site with the back of my truck full of ladies' hygiene products, and then tied string to them to pull them down through the waveguides to soak up the water.
I have used cotton makeup applicator pads to put Pur sleep scented stuff and essential oils on -- they don't have to be cut up.

Tim I worked with a lady once that said at her husband's work place they used tampons to dry parts (but for the life of me can't remember what type of parts as this was 35 years ago). I thought is was ever soooo funny.
99 do you put the lid of the shoebox back on? If so make sure your machine still has plenty of air circulating around it.
