Crackling in throat.
My daughter was eating pop rocks on Easter and I casually mentioned to my husband that that's the sound my throat makes when I breath in. I never thought to mention it before. Has anyone else experienced this? I looked it up and it's called Rales, crackles or crepitations. Doesn't sound good.

You have LPR or an upper sphincter muscle in your esophogus that isn't working properly, thus trapping stomach acids in/on voice box. See an upper GI specialist for endoscopy, whose results will dictate whether you receive medicine as treatment only OR surgery.

Funny, this question was from back in April of last year. I still have the crackles but it's not so noticeable unless I get a bad cold that hangs on. The doctor told me not to worry about it, it was just mucus in the throat. I recently changed doctors and told her about my having trouble swallowing sometimes (which I also told the other doctor) and the new doc is sending me to have an upper gi and barium swallow done. It's funny because sometimes it's just milk or something that won't go down. Maybe this will explain why I'm still not feeling good when I'm being treated for the apnea so well.

tanyaceree said: Mary Z, you somehow received a 'canned answer.' I apologize for my difficulty in navitgating this site to give you your answer: I have GERD and LPR both. With the removal of my gallbladder, my GERD became less evident with the provision that my LPR (symptoms I had actually experienced first) was more noticeable. I will be seeing an upper GI for endoscopy as I have already had barium exam to no avail. Lesson to be learned: NEVER ignore symptoms! They may get worse, but often not better. One component of LPR is that you may feel no pain and sense no heartburn, as with GERD. Sadly, YES, you can have both. I hope I answered your question!

I have bronchitis and I have the crackeling in my upper chest and throat, and have been coughing for 4 days, and I'm on an anti-biotic, and taking mucinex and am not getting relief. I've been sleeping in a recliner for 4 days, and I'm going nuts with this sound, cannot sleep.
