I know my AHI before cpap was 37 so 9.9 is definitely an improvement! Is this an average over the last 3 days that I have been using the machine 7-8 hours at night? I know I have been playing with the mask (Resmed Swift LT) before actually going to sleep trying to stop any noise from leaks so this might show up also. Thanks!

Would the nasal pillows have more of a tendency to leak than other masks? I never felt that bad to begin with and really had my Sleep Dr. baffled. My sleep apnea was discovered during a colonoscopy...who knew?? My husband never really complained about my snoring so I am not your typical sleep apnea patient. Maybe I don't realize how bad I was actually feeling and will soon have an energized revelation :)

Those are great things to look forward to! My Sleep Doc said he had patients on disability whose scores were lower than mine!! He also attributed my positive lifestyle and being an optimistic person contributing to my lack of symtoms.
I am wearing the chin-up strips to keep my mouth shut.

Jeff, I understand that the Leak calculations on done differently on resmed versus respironics...but are things like apneas and hypopneas (sp?) also calculated differently?

there should be laws to force a universal standard so we donot have variable with diffrent companys and the laws should be extended world wide as a standard

The AHI estimates from home machines are given for the purpose of trending information only.

In reviewing the calculations and definitions provided by 99 (thank you!) it seems that the Resmed has a"looser" definition of both apneas and hypopneas-- would that be your conclusion? So that it would be "harder" to achieve and AHI of 5 or below on the Resmed system. Is that correct?
