How Many of Us Are 100% "Compliant"?
I would count myself in the ranks of those 100% compliant -- meaning that, with very few exceptions, I use my machine every single night, all night, and whenever I take a nap.
Hopefully I'm not alone. What about everyone else?

How old are you? Weight? Do you have any underlying medical conditions? What kind of machine and mask are you using? What kind of doctor are you?

I'm 100% compliant but I'm a newbie.I started on August 26,2009 with my treatment.I wish I had known all of the troubles sleepapnea can cause many years ago!!!

I have been probably 98% since getting my machine a few months ago. Have fell asleep on the couch, been camping with no electricity...that sort of thing. I too have had times when I have felt more fatigued with therapy than w/o..I talked to my healthcare professional and they suggested giving it more time.

I'm 58, 5'4", 145 lbs. I use a ResMed S8 Escape II CPAP and ComfortLite mask. This is all sort of new to me. I'm a psychologist.

Dr Singer, how long have you had that Resmed S8 Escape II w/EPR? If you had it less than 30 days take it back to your local DME provider and INSIST on the Resmed S8 Elite II w/EPR.
The Escape is capable of only providing compliance data. Which is useless to you or your doctor. Its only value is proof for the DME provider to get their money from your insurance. If you've had it less than 30 days it might also be worth your while to call your insurance company and ask them what local DME CPAP providers they are contracted with. Hopefully you will have the option of more than one as that gives you the bargaining/negotiating room to get the Elite.
Did they KNOW you are a "doctor"??? If so and they STILL provided you w/ONLY an Escape - so much for professional courtesy! Chivalry is dead.
And if you bought it outta pocket ...... you can most likely buy the Elite online cheaper than you paid this local DME provider for the Escape.

How long have you been on treatment? judy is right to get the most out of your therapy you might want to check into a fully data capable machine. i am really glad that you found sleepguide. There is quite a bit of great information here. Just between you and me some of these people really need some good therapy. maybe you can swap eh?

I really struggled with compliance with the CPAP as my symptoms were worse when I used it regularly. However, I am darn close to 100% compliance with an oral device, as I can tell that it makes a difference; if I do not use it, my sleep that night is significantly impacted.

I have been 100% compliant for over 15 years. The only time I even tried to sleep without my CPAP was one night when everyone in my home was sick and I thought I might be getting what they had.

I have used my CPAP machine every night, and every nap except for one weekend when I left it at home accidentally. It was that one night that convinced me that I NEVER want to try to sleep without it. I slept terribly, woke up repeatedly and was a tired blob the next day. Thankfully I did not have to drive home.
It has changed my entire ability to function. I cannot stress it enough to those who need the CPAP, make a commitment to get adjusted to the therapy and use it every time you sleep.
Never Nap without your PAP.

Me too...if I don't I am awaken by gasping for air every 15 minutes! I use night time oxygen too!

I'm 100% also, although I wasn't for the first three months. I resisted the machine like crazy until I woke up one morning and realized I was still wearing the mask. After that, I found that sleeping without the CPAP was just too uncomfortable.
