I don't know how hard, or time consuming, it would be to start one. Do other chronic illnesses (although treated I do not view this as a chronic disease) have dating sites? -

Hey, I'm all for that. Considering the looks I've gotten from a couple of guys when they found out about my CPAP, and considering I've had a relationship end because of sleep apnea, what the heck. There are probably a lot more grownups on SG anyway. I think it'd be kinda fun myself. Add a little spice to the support/info deal......it could be hoser therapy!!!!
"Hoser" should be part of the dating site's name!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mike, do you just sit up there in guru heaven dreaming up fun things to do with SG???? LOL
Also, Carol, why do you NOT consider apnea a chronic disease? Seems like it is to me.....what do the rest of you guys think??

It is not in itself that I consider as a chronic disease. It is treatable and with therapy one can expect to lead a fairly normal life (yeah, I know it isn't normal to wear a mask to bed, but other conditions have to contend with a lot worse). To me a chronic disease is one that therapy does not impact or influence the condition itself. In this regard, diabetes is a chronic disease that insulin helps, but needs very careful monitoring in order to be effective. Yeah, I know some are going to argue that OSA fits this category, but in and of itself I don't feel that is true. If you can get your pressure set to an optimal level you are reasonably able to control the apneas.
I do think that the long term conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, etc. are, in my opinion chronic diseases that ARE impacted by OSA. It is hard to explain my reasoning, but OSA is not a chronic disease if treated, but the consequences of OSA are chronic. -
