Yeah, a pressure of 19.5 is very high, but is there a chance that you could gradually increase your pressure to 19.5? Since you don't have a lot of faith in this person I would go carefully. An AUTO machine may help. Hope someone else has some ideas.
Hi,
I have been using a Resmed S9 with the same face mask as yourself for the past six months.
I have no experience of the single set pressure machines as the NHS (UK) seem to feel that auto CPAP is the way to go. This is because many return visits might be neccesary to establish an optimum set pressure without any further cash to cover the increased cost of these visits.
I would guess that the set pressure needed changes with any change in life style or anything that would affect breathing. My lifestyle as a home carer varies so widely for instance that my level of tiredness when I hit the bed varies hugely.
I value the spontaneity that my work allows and the ability to enjoy the occasional glass of wine with a meal. My weight tends to vary 95-110 Kg over the year and my mood varies low in winter and a bit brighter in summer.Mild 12.9 down to 1or 2 AHI for reference, your apneas probably a higher AHI
The Auto machine seems to cope with the effects of this on my breathing and depth of sleep, so my advice would be to check what deals their are to exchange for an Auto CPAP machine.
My local hospital got a good deal on Auto CPAP and almost seem to use the S9 as a 'diagnostic' tool with their own software to interrogate the memory card. Also to check 'compliance' which is med speak for can you tolerate the machine/mask pressure? given that it can be a bit of a claustrophobic experience. Cheers Roger D
