- I have a Respironics pre-M Series Bi-PAP Auto w/Bi-Flex and despite I don't like the Respironics I'm about ready to switch to using it.

I've also toyed w/the idea of setting Exhalation to Fast. It was suggested that we set Exhalation to Slow when Medium didn't work but Slow doesn't work for me either.

Resmed VPAP Auto, assuming part number is the model number, PN 184424. This was the January 2008 release, not the July 2008 released Resmed VPAP Auto 25. It comes w/a MUCH MORE comprehensive Clinicians Manual (NOT Users Manual) than the Resmed VPAP Auto 25 does.
The problem is in Spontaneous mode, NOT in Auto mode. Auto mode works wonderfully.
There is a too abrupt transition between inhalation and exhalation. At the end of my inhalation there is a "puff" of pressure before exhalation begins. It is almost like the VPAP thinks I take too long to finish inhaling and has decided like it or not its giving a blast of pressure BEFORE dropping in EPAP pressure.
I also use the S8 ResLink and Nonin oximeter and ResScan 3.7 software and could extend the graphs out if that would help any.
IPAP is currently at 11, EPAP at 6 and PS at 4. All other "comfort options" are Default settings.

It will give you an idea of what you could be getting your friend, Keith, into.
At the price of these Resmed VPAP Autos and VPAP Auto 25s there is NO EXCUSE for these RRTs NOT to know the product they are delivering and how to PROPERLY program them.

The January 2008 release of the Resmed VPAP Auto (not the July 2008 release Resmed VPAP Auto 25). Altho there ARE 2 VPAP Auto 25 users who have encountered the same/similar problem. All in all there are 10 of us who've encountered this particular situation.

- I enjoyed your cpapcritic website. I even made a couple of comments. BUT the CPAP Wizard blog would NOT let me make a comment or ask a question. Since you were "in the field" for some 20 years I had high hopes that you had access to an RRT experienced w/the Resmed devices or at least knows how to READ AND UNDERSTAND the Clinicians Manual. They seem to be scarce as hen's teeth!!!
