I live in a very small apartment and finally will have a bureau, but the only place to put it is next to the bed.  It will take the place of the table I keep my Cpap on.  Is it better to have the Cpap above your head or below?

i have no problem rainout

my understanding is cpap on floor with tubing above you

You should also consider the quality of the air that will get sucked through your CPAP and how often you change the filter. Dust settles everywhere but the floor could possibly be the worst. Just walking over to the bed probably stirs up dust from the floor whether its Tile, hardwood or carpet. While that dust is floating around waiting to settle is probably when most of us turn on the CPAP machine, effectively turning on a vacuum. Raising your unit a few inches above the floor might be worthwhile. My filter still looked clean until I put it up to a new one. It had caught a lot of dust but I bet just as much made it through.Yes the room is dusted and vacuumed at least weekly but when sunshine is streaming in and there is any movement in the room. Dust is there.

Excellent point Jere Roche, which is why the machines shouldn't be on the floor.  We lately started selling these Bacteria Filters for people with allergies etc.  I've been testing it myself on my Respironics System One, and was horrified to find these results after just one month's use:-

On the left is a brand new filter and the right is the used one.  The photo's haven't been edited (only cropped) and were taken on my Galaxy Tab and my APAP was brand new in November.  I've not posted them on the website as I'm doing another test at the moment.  This time I replaced both my Ultra Fine and Foam Filters and am hoovering the bedroom floor everyday instead of once a week so see the difference.

I don't have allergies and was purely testing them so I can help my customers, but now I've seen these results I'm going to use them all the time.

I must also point out, that these filters are not supposed to be used for a month really, they're designed for 3 nights use, so I'll change them more frequently after I've finished doing these tests.

I keep my CPAP on my nightstand level with the bed and kind of tuck the hose under the covers.  I run my humidifier on a low setting so do not have any trouble with rainout.  My machine has a reminder function on when to change the filter but it doesn't seem to get too dirty where the machine sits (I change it anyway). Everone has something different that works for them.  My placement is in the only place that is practical so I can reach the buttons.

I think I would check with the DME, it could be something as simple as a small crack in rhe humidifier.  It shoul not be  leaking and you should not be dealing with puddles of water every morning.  Are you sure you are closing the humidifier door completely?

I will have to check on the heated tube.  I am supposed to use a humidifier, but it leaks and I end up with puddles on the floor every single morning.  I don't fill it to the fill line and even just put in a tiny bit of water and still puddles.  It sounds like a good option to try.
