I have been considering purchasing a pulse oximeter. I have a finger pulse oximeter but that doesnt help me record anything at night. I would appreciate any comments re: effectiveness, model, reasonable place to purchase, pro's and con's....anything at all...... Thank You.........Claudette

Jeff, That really seems like a good price after I looked a little on the web..But I cant buy one until after the first of the year...I wll call se medical supply today to see how long that price is good for....

I am also wondering if I am putting the cart before the horse, so to speak, and perhaps I should read about how I am going to use the software etc. first. I am anxious to see what the ox levels are at nite, but I think I am going to educate myself a bit more or maybe thats not necessary if I am going to eventually get the recording device anyway..

I also hope to get ResScan and I am not sure which I should try to learn first....confused again....

Thank you................Claudette

Claudette, I bought the SPO 7500 recording oximeter and software before the CMS 50D and 50E came out. Neither the ResScan 3.7 nor the SPO 7500 software was difficult to figure out and use and - believe me - I do NOT learn new software easily!!!!!! I would imagine the CMS 50D software would be no more difficult.

I've been looking at the CMS 50's - but get confused as ole billy heck as to which one to recommend to my neighbor in the same redicament I am in.

jnk, its a RELIEF to see you recommend one!!! I figger if you've got one and use it then if and when I get stumped I've got you to fall back on!
Ha! So the PLUS is the key! Thank you. Now, I wonder if the 50D Plus comes w/the "stick on" sensor instead of just the clip on sensor. I prefer the "stick on". The stick on type is what I use w/my S8 ResLink XPod oximeter and sensor.
I recently bought a CMS-50E OLED Fingertip Pulse Oximeter. It does miniture sleep studies. You wear it all night and it collects data points on your Oxygen level plus your pulse rate. I wore it last night for the first time. I didn't have a very good night, so wasn't real suprised to find my Oxygen had fallen down below 88 several times during the night.
Judy....I will easily have more difficulty, I wager, with the software than you do!!!....I am not used to any of this.....and I have computer problems....I may have to decide on a new computer first.......I will receive the
Res Scan software before I have the oximeter equipment...I wasnt sure which I should focus on first but as it looks now it will be the ResScan 3.7...............Claudette

Jeff,

I called SE medical supply today. They also suggested the 50-F which is about double the price, but has a wrist recorder I think. They said it would minimize the effect of activity.

They did mention, as you stated, that the basic prices would be going up as of January and that the sale was just good thru tomorrow.... that a 10% discount was in addition to the quoted sale price.

Upon reflection, I think I want one, if its not cost prohibitive, that can be used for other than just sleep study purposes...He said the 50-F would be ok for walking except that I wouldnt be able to swing my arms....again, I assume, as you mentioned....because of artifact issues....

They need a prescription...... but will take a sale order now and then have the provider fax a prescription a few days later....... That will not work for me tho.

thank you..............claudette

I think the motion artifact may be a bit overplayed as far as recording oximetry during sleep. I seldom had problems w/artifacts w/my SPO 7500 recording wrist oximeter.

Of course, if you kick like a mule and tear the bedding apart every night during your sleep ......
I am kind of active at times....bedding on the floor etc.....that is part of my concern re artifact.....I dont expect any significant problem if I lay still while I sleep but that has not been the case.....perhaps that will all change as time goes on and everything gets straightened out.........
