PRESSURE SETTINGS
Does anyone know how to change the pressure on a Remstar lite cpap. My last test in December had a change from 7 to 10, but my respiratory company has changed twice since then and no one has set up to change the pressure. In this state they aren't allowed to tell us how to change it ourselves.
Four months is too long to wait for a simple change. One guy awhile back show me how, but I did something wrong as I couldn't change it.

try this (i dont' have the exact model machine you have, but this probably will work for you):
1. unplug the power cord from the back of the CPAP machine
2. lift the LCD cover and press the two buttons closest to the back of the CPAP machine
3. while pressing the two buttons, plug the power cord into the CPAP machine

Here is one very good reason for ALWAYS insisting that YOU be given your original script AND any therapy setting changes ordered. The local DME suppplier's can not legally change your therapy settings w/o an order (script) from your doctor.
It is not just your state. In the USA your therapy settings can not legally be changed by anyone except upon order of your physician. Do NOT construe this to mean that you cannot legally change your therapy settings yourself. However, it is not something you should do unless that change has been suggested by your doctor as in your case or unless you have educated yourself and have a darn good idea of what you are doing and why. And hopefully doing it w/the knowledge and blessing of your doctor.

My machine only has two buttons and they aren't covered.I wish they were then the cats wouldn't keep shutting off my air while I'm sleeping.
I'll try what you're suggesting with those two buttons.
I would not change the setting without the doctors orders,but the orders were issued Dec 21, 2008 and even though it's been discussed with both respiratory companies no one has made the change of pressure yet and it's been four months.
I have even discussed the change with the doctor, as I was surprised at such a large jump up of pressure with no weight change etc.

If the instructions PDLaire provided don't work, go on over to cpaptalk.com and ask for help there. Just be sure to provide the exact model of your Respironics. I remember reading some of the older model xPAPs (not necessarily Respironics) you had to use a screw driver to reset your pressure. But I doubt your xPAP is THAT old. If so I am sure it would be considered an antique!

Cathy, take a good look at the top of your CPAP. Or if you have the Users Manual with it take a look at the cover and tell us the EXACT MODEL name. We can then look it up. W/o know the exact model we're working blind. The method PDLaire provided should have worked w/ANY of the Respironics produced since at least 2006 if not before.
I don't like providing information on how to access the Clinicians Menu on these xPAPs publicly as some who read it aren't ready yet to be playing w/their therapy settings. However, in your case ... go to cpaptalk.com, register so you can send a PM and PM Slinky and I will give you the full instructions.

Judy, my cpap machine is "Remstar lite" I tried to go to cpaptalk.com but my msntv froze. I hope to get the computer set up by the end of the week, but for now I can't get into that group.

I'm sorry, Cathy. I've seen too many newbies gain access to their xPAP's Clinicians Menus and just willy-nilly start playing w/their pressure settings when they haven't the slightest idea of what they are doing. All they see are suggestions that they may need a higher pressure and they have this new "toy" and found the instructions and .... Whatever, I do not provide Clinicians Manuals or instructions on how to access the Clinicians Manual publicly.
I went thru the Respironics website products listing and the only "Lite"s I found were their ComfortLite and ProfileLite masks, nothing in any of their xPAP line w/Lite in the model name.

I understand Judy. My doctor has told me it can cause serious problems if the machine is set higher then needed and I am certainly not wanting to give info to those who aren't cautious and informed either.
Next time I see you're posting within in a few minutes I will post my email address and delete it once I know you have it.

you guys can private message each other within this site. all you have to do is click on the persons photo/avatar, which brings you to their profile page. then click "Send a Message" underneath the photo/avatar. if that doesn't work, become "Friends" first and then try it.
