I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea about a year ago.

I am on a pressure of 15 and have been most of that time.

For several months, I have been extremely tired and feel like I'm dragging.

I also have muscle aches, chills occasionally and puffy eyelids.

In the past I've been told I may have fibromyalgia, and have heard it can be associated with sleep apnea.

My doctor told me to exercise more and to use less salt, but I wonder if anyone else has had my symptoms.

I called the sleep drs office because he wants to look at a download of my cpap card about this time.

Can the wrong pressure or bad fitting mask cause this?

Please let me know.

Thanks

Yes, be sure and follow up with the doctor.

Mouth leaks and other issues can be a problem and negate the effects of the cpap.
Madeline, I agree with sleepycarol, follow up with the sleep Dr. I have no explanation for your symptoms as I have not gone through anything really similar. My Quattro would sometimes cause puffy eyes; I'm not a big salt eater. The OSA if not properly treated, and our needs may change over time, can cause fatigue. I don't know about the muscle aches and chills.
Have you been having all of these symptoms at the same time over the past several months? Have you checked if you have a fever during your chills?

Good luck, keep us posted.

Hi Madeline:

As usual, I agree with sleepycarol. And I add that since you have OSA, it is statistically more likely that your CPAP system needs a tweak (pressure change, mask refit, etc.) than you have new onset fibromyalgia. Best to follow up with the sleep doc to be sure.

Rock is right on. Many people need to be tweeked after being on thier machine about a year. The download is the best place to start. When was the last time you got a new mask. You may be in need of a replacement. Many people do not realize that they need to replace there mask every three to six months
i recently spoke to my doctor and said it is about a year i have been on cpap and am still tire
he said to mention ME to my sleeptheripist in my june appointment when i will do a futher sleep study.

he said ME was in the same family as sleep apnea
