I'm using the Swift Nasal Pillow for her and don't notice that air is blowing in my eyes...but something is going on because my eyes have been dry for the last week or so since starting CPAP. I've been using Visine Dry Eye Relief which is labeled as "sterile tears." Am wondering if any of you have any other solutions-- the visine sterile tears seems to help but not to completely solve the problem.

Thanks
Jan

That's a great idea. That would rule out air blowing into your eye. I nominate bonesigh as problem solver of the day!

Hello, I solved my problem with this by attaching an eye night mask to my headgear. I have a Mirage Quattro so I just put 2 little holes in the mask (the eye mask) and attached it to the head piece. Works like a charm, does not slip around, no problems since. Good luck!
I too use the Swift for Her nasal pillows, if it slides around it will blow in my eyes, and make them dry in spite of the Restasis..so I have some Refresh PM, which is a salve to be used at night and works quite well, although it does make your vision blurry--but if you are sleeping, it doesn't matter. Gel drops work much better than just liquid.

I have had dry eyes for a few years and am on Restasis, which works great, and is quite affordable if you use each vial 3 times..they give you a holder to use it twice..but will not prevent drying from the air leaks.

I have also noticed the exhale vent will blow air in my face, if it is too close to an object or twisted upwards. I can't lie behind my hubby as it blows back in my face and also he says it makes him cold!

I wonder if using a higher setting on the humidifier lessens the eye drying effect?
Yep, that's right. I got a nice pink one at Target that's better than most I saw. Looks like a mini bra (o; Don't remember the name of it though.

Just so I understand-- are we talking about one of those little fabric masks that people put on their eyes to block out light in the room while they are sleeping? Just trying to clarify for mysel...

thanks

Sherry, I totally understand what you are going through with the air vent blowing on your face or an object or blowing on your husband. It was the single most difficult thing for me to get used to with the whole CPAP experience. I fought it each and every night.

I just got the Headrest mask because it has a vent at the top of the head that blows UP, and no part of the mask touches your face except under your nose. Man, it is so wonderful to be able to put on the mask at night and JUST GO TO SLEEP. I can pull the covers up and I don't have to make a blanket tunnel for the air vent...or make sure my arm is away from the vent so I don't freeze, or have the vent shooting at my husband' s back. I am finally a happy camper. :>D
I agree. Bonesigh, why don't you post that on the SG Collective Wisdom group site? It's a great thing for people to know and I don't remember ever hearing it on SleepGuide before.

Good Morning Susan,

Glad to hear of all your good news of late - and wishing for much more of the same for you !

And, by the way, I'd be interested in knowing, what is the SG Collective Wisdom group site ?

Thanks for always contributing to SG and please send my greetings to Mike, Melinda and Eliza Marie when you are in touch with them.

Thanks much,
Renee

Yep, that's the type of eye (sleep) mask they are talking about.
