is Dental Device appropriate if a person has a lot of sinus problems/unable to breathe through the nose and can't tolerate CPAP?

my wife's friend's husband is in this situation.

Not impossible, but the more open your nose is, the more likely you'll be able to tolerate and benefit from oral appliances.
That's hard to say, each individual would probably need to be evaluated for a sleep device by a specialist in this area. Are the sinus problems being treated? Can he never breathe through his nose? And why can't he tolerate CPAP. Those questions being asked, I go back to my original statement that he needs to be evaluated, he may benefit from such a device.
How determined is he to have something work, how motivated is he?
