I just want to let everyone know how much I appreciate the support I get here. You all have made me a better sleep practitioner. But, always a but j saz, cindy, rock, jnk, and especially Conn are the true pros here. Conn has done so much for sleep on all fronts. I want to know what je knows. I am a novice. It touched my heart that Jan wamted my opinion. Conn and the rest of the alphabet soup gang are who you should be listening too

You da man Rock. You the people's sleep tech. Sleep tech of the people.
Cheese and Crackers Rock have no idea what to say here...Its not that “I know” anything always an article or book to read the field keeps changing so very much I do not know…and I think you are getting a pretty good grasp on things yourself bud!
Rock-- I am glad that I touched your heart in seeking your opinion. You deserve to feel good about the contributions you are making here. I know that you have touched me and many others on here as you have unselfishly tried to provide support and information to people just starting out on this sometimes difficult and sometimes very confusing journey.

I am hopeful that I can find people locally who are as generous with their time and spirit in explaining and encouraging the proper diagnosis and then use of this equipment. You and others on this forum really do deserve to feel very good about yourselves and the contributions you are making to so many who come to SG to better understand the disease that they are dealing with.

So, thank you Rock and JNK, Conn, Mike, Judy and the many others who have really helped to ground me in what it is necessary to know and what it is necessary to do. I'm sure that I'll make my share of mistakes and have my share of frustrations and all kinds of follow-on questions.

Right now, I am sure hoping that the DME has the equipment available and that I needn't wait any longer to get started. I meet with the DME for the first time tomorrow. For now, my mantra is FULLY DATA CAPABLE, FULLY DATA CAPABLE...(and heated humidification).

I didn't get to the doctor quickly enough to have him write a pretty "open" prescription. But, I believe that the prescription is for the latest, most capable Respironics auto titrating one (just prior to this weeks introduction). Does anyone know the model of that one? Any reasons I might not want it?

Thanks again, to all of you :-)

Rock H., I agree with everything you just said EXCEPT for the last sentence. You've contributed a GREAT deal to both my learning curve on SG and to my remaining in treatment. Everyone's experience and input matters on here!!!!!

Rock Hinkle - what can I say? Youse my very favorite person here. You have an interest in MORE than just your job. You have a personal interest in not only your patients at your labs but also those of us here in the forum and the amount of time you dedicate to us is ..... phenomenal and so very much appreciated. And you've shared yourself with us. Yer SPECIAL, man!!!
Jan, the latest fully data capable Respironics machine before the System One (announced this week) is called the Respironics M Series Auto w/C-Flex or the Respironics M Series Auto w/A-Flex. Make sure that you also buy the Encore Smart Card Reader and Encore Smart Reader Software so that you can exploit/use the data capability of the machine.

Rock, once again I agree with Judy. You've walked this walk with me since Day 1. You've NEVER failed to be there for anything I needed. I don't know that I'd have stuck around long enough to find out how valuable SleepGuide is if it weren't for your being there right from the start.

Buck up, boy!! You're an angel..........

Besides, Rock, like I've said before, look how damn cute you are on there with your little pink pillow. Takes a real man to love a pink pillow and sleep on it in public!!!!!!

The DME said that they didn't sell the reader or the software for some reason that didn't make sense to me but said that I could get it directly from Respironics. I assume that the software is for windows and not mac? Is there anything that needs to be "unlocked" in order for me to use it? And do you know which is the latest version if there are versions?

I recall that there is a website that you sent me to for those mask wipe things. Would you kindly send me the link again, I cannot easily locate it. I am happy to support the site you mentioned in "full disclosure" that you are affiliated with. :-)

The data card readers are proprietary to each manufacturer. Resmed's card reader won't work for the Respironics and Respironics' won't work for the Resmeds. And neither software will work on a Mac UNLESS your Mac is able to run Windows base programs.

When looking for the Respironics card reader look for the Mako Infineer DT3500. You will need a script to purchase the software in the USA. SOME local DME providers did sell it to patients if the patients' doctors wrote a script for it. If I remember correctly you need EncorePro 1.8 software. I don't believe the earlier versions will work w/the M Series. Or you can get the Respironics patient software which is called EncoreViewer.

I don't know of any insurances that will pay for the software and card reader so you are better off buying them on line. But be sure to shop for them as prices can vary considerably. And it never hurts to call the online DME suppliers to ask if they have an "unadvertised sale price" for them.
Jan, the website is http://www.apnealife.com -- you can get the wipes there, and the software and card reader. the software and card reader are for the PC only, and are the latest versions. Nothing needs to be unlocked. It's ready to use out of the box.
