We have had some really cold weather -- single digits and below. I do not like much humidity since it tends to make my asthma act up so typically use my humidifier in pass over mode. Even though I like a warm room to sleep, when it is so cold out the house has a chill. We live in an old drafty house and have no plans to move since we have lived her 34 years and it has been paid off for probably 20 of those years.
I often wake up with a sore throat and I think it is due to the cold air blowing from the machine causing it. I have tried turning the humidifier on low to help, but don't want to go any higher due to my asthma.
After I am up a while the sore throat pretty much disappears. I do have chronic nasal drainage, even with daily antihistimines. I know this doesn't help the situation. I also have GERD, and take Prevacid daily for it.
On warmer days when the house isn't so cool, no sore throat upon waking.
Any suggestions?
