I see your point. But I wouldn't have ben left alone 6 months. The DME followed up a few days after I got the machine and wanted to meet me a month into my therapy. I pushed that back because I've been insanely busy and because I was doing good. I'll see them next week. My doc also had scheduled a visit a month or so into my therapy and I would have been able to see him or the DME people sooner if I had been struggling. But this is Quebec, not the US so I don't know what is the norm down there.

My prescription was actually 4 to 18 and I increased the low pressure incrementally to 6 because 4 was leaving me feeling suffocated. The machine seems to be "learning me" too. Remember I was complaining about those Pressure Pulses or "puffs" of air. The suffocation feeling at 4 was mostly after those. I rarely get them now. Or maybe it was that, at 4, the machine had a hard time monitoring my breathing but is doing better at 6. That is actually in line with your argument of tightening up the range.

So it seems the APAP is not the issue but maybe docs who prescribe to wide a pressure range for them?

Comfort of therapy is the key to all succesful titrations Stephane. Everyone's case is different. Some will do better on APAP while others adjust better to a fixed. Our docs will use APAP on pts whom are REM specific, need high pressures, or have positional problems. The problem that i see is that patients are being sent out of the lab with APAP settings of 4-20cm with no follow up for 6 months. You were sent out on 4-15cm. More effort needs to be put into monitoring this typ of therapy so as to give the patient a better chance. Had you not changed your pressure yourself, how long do you think you would have lasted?
I also have to say that I do not know how many of our patients end up on APAP. I am sure that more have trouble with a fixed pressure than I am aware of.
What are you doing posting here, Rock Hinkle?? Why aren't you testing??? Don't be making me a nervous wreck!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS ROCK

I do not know if I passed yet 99. I just said that the test did not seem that hard. Now I wait. Could be months before I find out. I may go crazy in the mean time.

Judy I was home by 10:30am. A co-worker took it right after me in about the same amount of time. She was my study buddy. I could be over-estimating, but I feel that I did really well.
