thinking of spiffing up this place design-wise... what do you guys think of this instead of what we've got now?

O.K. so the update is still very 3D, nice, and the starry sky is still there. Color, though monochromatic, is a bit brighter while shading from light to darker at top. My first impression was that it was "so bright". I do like it but I wonder how it would look if the white words other that the logo itself could be dark blue or black as a contrast to the lighter field they are in. Just a suggestion. I think the brightness issue is just my personal migraine aura influenced reaction. As Susan M. said, I'll still be here whatever you put up there. Thanks for your continual efforts.
RL -- I think if the tagline "Sleep Apnea Forum Bringing Power to the People" were dark blue or black it would not "pop" on the page and sort of get lost in the sky. That's my concern. I appreciate your feedback, as always, and was wondering whether you'd be ok with the latest design given that you were one of the most vocal supporters of the prior design. Glad to hear we didn't rock the boat too much for you.

it is all about aesthetics what is pleasing to the eye because it is all there and just a little bit of tweeking to make more pleasing and appealing

perhaps centralising the word sleepguide while leaving the other text where it is alreadyand perhaps making it larger or even space writing for that special effect
h o w t o d o s p a c e w r i t i n g that is how it is done
RL -- turned down the brightness of the header a bit. wonder whether you notice the difference.

Yes, that is less bright, but still "light". I notice the 3D "ness" a little more this way. I am flipping back and forth between the two (2 windows open) and I can see you added a few more cloud forms, and really the color is a different shade of blue, more toward the teal with less contrast in the upper left corner where the bright star is. I think that part softens the effect a lot. This sort of thing is always contextual and I think the new version goes better with the shade of blue used in the border and section right below the banner. I do like the new version better in the current context. (I do like the shade of blue on the previous as well but it gives the other light blue a "dirtier" look). These are subtle differences that may not be noticeable to all, and different peoples' monitors and color setting affect how it looks to them also. It is also a good technique to keep the most contrast in the area where you want the eye to go, and this design keeps the eye going toward the logo. I think it is excellent!

My monitor is using Apple Studio Display 2008 (if you want details,I can copy it to you)
Good job on the header Mike. As a professional Web designer, if I can make just one comment it would be to give much more contrast in color between regular links and visited links so people can figure out at a glance what threads they've already read. I would go with de-saturating the blue color of regular links towards gray for visited links.

My $0.02 :)
resmed has a cluster of three bright stars
Hi Mike, I like this one a lot better than the one you started with. I think the north star on this one is a bit too bright and it looks a little funny to have stars in front of the clouds. But, generally speaking, I like it.
thanks guys. i will be honest: i personally love this new header, and think it's a huge improvement over the other ones. I want to keep it as-is indefinitely at this point.
you should never have ophans in the banner, people is an ophan and should be brought up to the first line and should not be on its own.

great improvement
you can drop the second sleep word and start with apnea
this will drag the word people up into one line

making it six words instead of severn
I really like the new logo the way it looks now. Makes me feel like taking a snooze or talking cpap!
