My Interest in Sleep Apnea
I have Sleep Apnea
Treatment Being Used, if any
CPAP
If Machine Being Used, What Type? (e.g., Respironics M Series with A-Flex Auto-Adjusting CPAP)
Some machine with heat and humidity. It travels well.
If Mask Being Used, What Type? (e.g., ResMed Activa Nasal Mask)
I use nasal pillows. I liked that infinitely better than the masks. I've snorkeled and it feels similar to a snorkel to me.

Hello out there.....

Hi, just want to introduce myself.....

For years I had difficult to control high blood pressure and sometimes my heart would go really fast for no reason. Then my legs started swelling and tests showed I had pulmonary hypertension, a very yucky disease of the lungs. Somebody finally asked me if I snored.....and I was tested for sleep apnea----which I do have. So did my dad and his dad, but nobody called it sleep apnea back then, just really bad snoring. My dad died at age 46 and his legs were swelling right before he died----maybe he had pulmonary hypertension too? I use my CPAP every time I sleep and try my best to leave it on all night. I hate it, but I love it. My pulmonary hypertension is almost to normal numbers now and my legs don't swell hardly at all anymore. I feel like a rested person now and I don't get so frustrated about things anymore. It is amazing what a little sleep will do. My next project is to lose all of my extra weight.
