Swap and Trade- prescriptions? 1 Reply

How will we handle the need for a script for a CPAP machine? I don't see the need for a script for other items, but the machines are a prescription only item. Mary Zimlich

Okay this has slipped to the back burner for me -- but it is worth working the kinks out as people are asking on the forum about where to get some relief from the high cost of supplies.

Maybe one idea would be to post the item here and then post it on cpapauction.com. Here you could give the date and time you would start the auction and run the auction for a very short amount of time. If a sleepguide member was prepared to bid and knew the time they could slip in and make a reasonable bid and pay or shipping (or not). I bought a mask and cushion just the other day for reasonable fees and a prescription was not needed. A prescription is needed for a machine. Or post it on craigs list or ebay with advance notice (and a buy it now option for ebay)- probably just masks and parts, not prescription items..
The trick would be to post here in swap and trade that, for example, on Monday night, December 14, you would post the item for sale. Or you could wait until someone interested in your item responded here and arrange the time and place ahead of time. I think it would work. If the bidding go too high you could still bid high with the understanding that the sleepguide member would refund a portion of the money via PayPal.
I think it's a bit unwieldy, but could work.

Has any decision been made as to how this group is going to operate? Swap & trade? Classifieds? Format for listings?

I think Dan's idea may be a good one. We sure don't want to risk SG legally in any way. I think the option is a great idea--it just bears careful planning......

Do you want the site to be a "swap & trade" or do you want to make it *PAP classiified's? If you do it as classifieds, i do believe you relieve the lability of the site and the "seller" of liability. It becomes the responsiblility of the buyer.

I will do some research and think about it. If anyone has suggestions, let me know.

I would worry that the unit may over heat if the lid is on it, even if the hose is going through a hole. I would add an additional opening near the air intake if it was me.

Try to readjust your headgear as suggested. Can you feel air leaking into your eyes? Have you checked with your doctor? Pink eye sometimes goes around and if you are having trouble that last all day you may want to check it out.
