I use a full face mask with my BiPAP, because I breathe through my mouth. I have tried just the nasal pillows and even with a chin strap, I still used my mouth to breathe.
My problem is this, and it may sound silly to some, but it really is disrupting my sleep. I wake up several times during the night because I've got so much air in my stomach (I presume it's from swallowing during sleep) that I literally have to sit up and belch it out. Please don't tell me to take an antacid, because this is not heartburn..it's just air. Does anyone have a solution or tips on preventing this?

Rock, I have always breathed through my mouth..even during waking hours.
jnk, I do have GERD and take Nexium for it. I do not eat or drink before bedtime, because this seems to increase the reflux during the night. My BI-PAP is set at 25/23 with an additional 2 liters of O2
I will have a copy sent to me and scan it for you to review. All I do know about my sleep study is that I had over 300 episodes in 6 hours. My O2/SPO2 sats went down to 54%. The doctor (pulmonologist) had me on a CPAP to begin with at a high rate, but I was still very tired and waking myself up all night by feelings that I was suffocating, so he did another sleep study and upped me to 25/23 BI-PAP. I started to have headaches, so he did an autopap for a week and changed my pressure by adding O2.to my BI-PAP. Been on this pressure for a year and a half. I'm not having headaches now...my O2 sats stay up around 99% on my Bi-PAP..and I'm finally having dreams again, but now this air in my stomach problem is interfering with my sleep. I just really don't know what to do.
I've had a quadruple bypass at 43 years of age, (before starting on PAP therapy) and my pulmonologist said my O2 sats contributed to my heart problems (well that and genetics).
I've never even considered going to an ENT, even though I worked for one for a couple of years, so I'm realy unsure about my nasal passages. I do always feel stuffy, so I think it may be a good idea to go see one and be scoped to find out.Just always considered it normal to breathe through my mouth because I've done so for many years.
Yes the lab is accredited and the doctor is board certified in sleep disorders. He is chief director over the lab, so I do trust him very much.
I can't use a nasal mask, because I breathe through my mouth...awake as well as asleep.
