OSA And A Small Goiter??
I've been having some very mild symptoms of increased SOB, assumed to be due to a COPD exacerbation. But the last 2 weeks or so I've had the feeling of something in the center of my throat. Similar to a light pressure on the right or left carotid will bring on.
Went to my family doctor for my annual flu shot. Never did get a chance to even discuss the pros and cons of the H1N1 shot. I was packed off for blood work and a soft tissue CT scan of the neck. I picked up the results yesterday and have an appointment this afternoon w/my family doctor.
It seems that I do have some irregularly hypoenhancing nodules in the lower pole of the right lobe which is slightly enlarged - but none of this was palpable on physical exam.
Despite not being palpable, could this be causing, not just the mild symptoms AND the high AHIs I've been getting? Maybe I've been blaming the Zzz-Mask for the sudden problems w/a suitable VPAP pressure and LOW leak rate? One of the nodules measures 2.6 cm x 2.1 cm by 1.5 cm. The metric system and I are not on particularly familiar terms.

I do not know enough about anatomy to give you a good answer Judy. I can only assume that anything enlarged in your throat could make things worse. Your doc would be the best person to ask this question.

Oh, yeah, Rock Hinkle! Of course, I'll talk to him, this afternoon actually, at least my family doctor to discuss the results. I already e-mailed my Endocrinologist the results and I've been scheduled w/my sleep pulmo for a 6 month "well-visit" the 22nd of this month.
I'd just like to know about "playing: w/my pressure settings until then to try and find at least a DECENT AHI w/this Zzz-Mask. I've finally got the headgear behaving itself and getting the lowest reported leak rate I've EVER gotten - and an AHI thru the roof.
Maybe tonight I'll go back to my Simplicity to get a comparison of both masks' at these pressure settings between the Zzz-Mask and the Simplicity now that I have the Zzz-Mask headgear working as it should.
