Since I have Crohn's disease - and have had for 30+ years - this news is just too good NOT to shout to the roof tops.

The iPill - Philips Electronics Research and Development unit is working on the final development stages of The Philips iPill, an ingestible electronic drug medication delivery system.

It sounds much like the Givens Agile Patency Capsule and Imaging Pill Camera except this carries medication directly to the site of disease activity.

that's exciting, period. not just for you, but for human beings generally. how amazing!
Thank you, John. They do not call the small intestine "the dark continent" for nothing. Its 20 feet of difficult to next to impossible to image tissue making Crohn's disease difficult to Dx even in this day and age. The Givens Agile Patency Capsule and the Givens Pill Camera have been a blessing for many difficult to Dx crohnies. The ability to deliver the necessary drugs right to the site of the infection will be such a blessing for so many!!!! Of course, human clinical trials to FDA approval burns up quite a few years, nonetheless this is the most hopeful and exciting new I've read. Whilst the medical profession is quite excited about the biologicals I'm not all that desperate to try that class of medication. They have the potentional for some exceptionally NASTY side effects.
