Mike, some people don't do as well w/the algorhythm of one brand than w/another. MOST people don't notice the difference. That being said: there has been some LIMITED literature that the Resmeds tend to produce as much as 1 cm difference in pressure than two of the other leading brands. I just can't remember which way - more or less (I know, fat lotta help that little bit of info is then) - but I can't find WHERE I read that abstract! And it was a med journal abstract.
In addtion the Resmeds and the Respironics have a different method of handling events that occur above 10 cms of pressure. I think I've phrased that right. jnk can better explain this than I can. It gets a bit technical and I've done well on my Resmeds so didn't bother my grizzled ole gray haired head w/committing the reasoning to memory - tho I do have his information saved - somewhere. dsm has also discussed this at cpaptalk. It was in a thread where someone posted that Resmeds don't respond to apneas that occur above 10 cms - which is totally misleading. The Resmeds rely on a totally different "trigger" to respond to apneas above 10 cms of pressure than Respironics in an effort to avoid mistaking a central apnea from an obstructive apnea - I think that is the gist of it. But - ask jnk to answer this one for you. I'm not a techie.
The other thing is - the setting on your humidifier. You have a larger water capacity w/the Humidaire 4i than w/an M Series Respironics. The first thing congestion brings to mind is the humidifier. You may need to adjust the setting.
The machine is super quiet. Very nice. I will lower the humidity setting to 2 tonight and see what happens.
Oh, yeah. The Resmeds have Respironics beat all to heck when it comes to ease of data access and amount of data available via the LCD screen. There's just no comparison.
The leak is not that bad. Especially considering you're just starting w/a Resmed. It looks like you are doing pretty darn good to me. HOW ARE YOU FEELING? Better? Worse? The same as w/that ole Respironics?
