My insurance lets me choose where I go to get a sleep study. We have many options where I live, so what do I look for as far as qualifications go when choosing? Is there an accreditation of sorts to look for? What about the qualifications of the sleep techs monitoring the sleep study? Any details would be helpful. Thanks.

RPSGT = Registered Polysomnograph Technician = sleep tech
REEGT = Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technician = brain waves for stroke, seizure, head trauma, etc.
RN = Registered Nurse
RRT = Registered Respiratory Therapist

END ????
RPSGT and REEGT are 2 different technical positions. An REEGT studies all brain waves and brain functions. An RPSGT studies those pertainining to sleep and sleep disorders. An RPSGT is kind of a cross between an RT and an REEGT. I am training on the job for sleep, and took some online classes. As of 7/1/09 if you are not already involved in a sleep program you must go through an accredited program to get in. As of 7/1/12 that program must an associate level program. At least that is the way it was explained to me.
END= electroneurodiagnostic program for REEGTs. An END program would be a school or facility for REEGTs. Quite a few neurology offices or hospitals have END programs. Indy has one of the best and hardest to get into.
