Hello, Newbie is all confused

My doctor says I am doing great. What does all the green mean? I think I need to talk to another doctor because of it. I do feel good and the machine gave me a life again so just confused.

Mike, I think your doctor needs his head examined. He's crazy if this constitutes "doing great" -- all that green means that you're still having apnea events. In fact, your data indicates that you're still struggling to breathe, on average, 79 times an hour! That's completely unacceptable. That number should be down near 5. Something needs to be adjusted in your treatment. I'm going to reproduce your results below in case people missed your attachments, to get other feedback:

Looking at the data, I have a question. (Tongue in Cheek) Are you putting the mask on?

He is basing his exam on the one day of data. Is their additional days/data to which we are not privy?

He based his assessment on this one days data, you need to see a real doctor. I would seriously consider reporting this "physician" to the medical board.

Notice that it also says that of the 8 hours, 5 minutes, 16 seconds while the blower was on, you weren't breathing (average time in apnea) for 3 hours and 47 minutes!

Did you have a sleep study done where they observed you while you used a CPAP, or did they just give you a device set at 17? Either way, something is way off here.

In addition, the leak graph is giving a pretty clear indication that your are breathing through your mouth. DId you wake up with a dry mouth or throat? Did you use a heated humidifier?

The only way I can make sense out of what your doctor said was to assume he meant that you were doing well in that you were able to use the device for over 8 hours continuously. For many people, that in itself is a very difficult accomplishment to acheive.

I'd take these results back to the sleep lab. Speak to someone there. Perhaps they can recommend a better sleep doc for you.

This was not my doctors results. It was the encore reader thing. I also forgot to mention that I am on an o2 collector set at two.
Thanks guys I have a new family doctor I will get him to send me to another place.

Bottom line though I have had the machine for about 2 months and I got the reader a few weeks later and it has always looked like this. I felt good so I didn't really bother. My fault..Could the machine possibly be sending out bad info?

jnk i am not in a place to verify, but it is my understanding that you must prove a failure of CPAP to innitiate BiPAP. This would nean that either the presence of true CSA or a CPAP titration pressure of 20cmwp that does not end events in adults. Children would fail cpap AT 15cmwp with continuous events. With that said the fact that he is on o2 tells me that bipap might be helpful, but i don't know what his diagnostic or titration stated.

the only thing shown in this data that's good is compliance, which is probably the only thing the pcp cares about. i would immediately start looking for a new sleep doc

If you required more than 15 cm of pressure during your titration study, you should have been titrated for bilevel, according to my understanding of present accepted protocol.

Maybe this will help..remember I got the machine 2 wks after the sleep study so I could not have changed that much. In other words he sent me out the door un-fixed..

During one of your stays at the clinic did they put a mask on you? This would have been the titration portion of the study.

On the second night of the study they put the mask on and then a bit later came back and put a chin strap on. So yes

I am going after the study right now and will have it up within two hours.
