Forgot distilled water
In hotel room and forgot my distilled water. Going to go without cpap rather than risk using the tap water. Dreading how I might feel tomorrow.

Yep, I'd go ahead and use the tap water rather than go w/o my xPAP. When you are finally able to get some distilled water also get some PoliDent Denture Cleanser tablets and toss one in some very warm water in the humidifier water tank and let it do its thing. Then just empty, rinse, dry and you're good to go w/a squeaky clean and crystal clear humidifier water tank. Use a vinegar water rinse if you like.
Chris, tap water has minerals in it and the mineral residue eventually leaves a cloudy residue build up in your humidifier water tank which can be difficult to get at and clean out. Altho the denture tablets as described above have done a darn good job on some raunchy tanks I understand. It was a good tip I read a long time ago and it has certainly kept my tank crystal clear. I'm still on my original humidifier water tank from Oct 2006. (And as I 'fessed up in another thread I'm not one to clean my tank very often nor even empty it very often. But I do faithfuly use only distilled water).

I would have used tap water, especially for one night. When I was in the hospital for a couple of nights a year ago I decided it wasn't worth the hassle or expense to see if the hospital could supply me with distilled water (I figure it would cost me out the nose to get it from them). I used tap water and then cleaned my tank good when I got home.
Normally I don't clean my tank and just top off the water when I do use the humidfier. But here at home I faithfully use distilled water.

You never know what chemicals and other "stuff" is floating around in a city's tap water. Sure, all the water in the states is safe to drink, but the effects of inhaling the water into into the lungs are unknown.

I read on another thread that you can get your doctor to write you a prescription for distilled water, then you can carry the prescription water with you in your case when you travel. I thought I would remember that tip when I had to travel with my CPAP.
