Use of CPAP after surgery for deviated septum??? ANyone with experience??

The DOC said no CPAP for one week after surgery.  How bad is it when you resume it.  I am feeling pain just thinking about it!!!   And I have to use nasal pillows~no face mask works on me.

Hmm...so your experience is that even after 4 weeks the pillows will not feel comfortable?  I can't wait (said with sarcasm) I have my one full face mask but it just does not work. I would rather use supplemental O2 (she said I could have that to prevent my sats from dropping below normal after the surgery until back on the CPAP.  I have been doing well with the CPAP lately (except for the blocked up right side) and wonder if all of this is going to "open up more cans of worms"?  I have already agreed to the surgery but COULD change my mind!

Hi Ginny, their was some postings a while ago about using a cervical collar and sleeping in a recliner after surgery...Might be worth looking in to.Good Sleep,Chris

I had surgery December 15th last year and I'm still trying to get back on cpap. I used it in the hospital the night I got out of surgery and it wasn't painful. When I got home it was unbearable. I think it was because I was propped up by the bed in the hospital and when I got home I was flat. Since then I've been wearing it off and on. The first 3 weeks after surgery the mask pressed down to much on the bridge of my nose and was uncomfortable so I stopped using it for a week and a half. Before I got a cold it was awesome! I could breath through my nose and sleep was amazing. Then I caught a cold and the air pressure dries out my throat to much. I haven't been using it for about a week and I feel miserable. To top it off I have a sinus infection :(

If you've lived with horrible sinuses and not being able to breath through your nose surgery to correct it is awesome! I keep asking myself why I didn't get it done sooner!
