Hi - I need to replace my group insurance that was paid for by my old work with a new individually bought plan. I was wondering if I need to disclose my sleep apnea as a preexisting condition and whether it makes insurance unobtainable at a reasonable price. Or do they have to cover me nontheless? Any one have any experience with this?
I do believe that Sleep Apnea is a preexisting condition. You would need to disclose this on a life insurance policy as well. It does put you in a high risk group, especially if there are comorbidities. Not sure if that correct grammar, but I think you get my thoughts. I have experienced getting turned down for insurance because of this situation. If you join a group, through an employer, you may have to wait the standard waiting period, but you would not be turned down. On the individual policy level, it may cause issues trying to obtain health insurance, unless Obamacare has changed the law.. Not sure about that.
