Last Monday my youngest granddaughter was here. She will be 2 in May. We were playing around and tickling each other. She was having a blast and full of it. She was tickling me mainly and laughing so hard that she ended up head butting me really hard in the nose. The pain was intense and I felt really sick to my stomach for awhile. My daughter scolded her but we were playing and I wasn't watching her as close as I should have probably.
My nose became somewhat discolored and swollen, oozed some blood, and is still extremely tender. I have had a headache since and went to the doctor today and it was confirmed my nose is indeed broken. The swelling is subsiding now, but has led to sinus inflammation and probably a sinus infection. Doctor said if it wasn't for the fact that cortisone slows healing she would have given me some, but did prescribe some antibotics. She was wanting to try to set it in her office, but said there would be intense pain while doing so -- so I declined and said if I am still having trouble in the future I will see an ENT. I figure it has been healing for a week and a half and in trying to set it would cause another set of issues.
I have not missed a night of therapy, although some nights have been rough due to tenderness and swelling of the passages. She suggested saline rinses to help with the healing process. She didn't indicate any issues with using my cpap (but I didn't bring it up at the appointment as I forgot to ask). I am assuming I am over the worst of it now though and it shouldn't be an issue.
