Hi everyone,

I've got my first cold since using the CPAP machine. I can't breathe through my nose and it's kind of scary thinking what tonight will be like. I've been taking Sudafed which helps some but I still can't breathe through my nose. I guess I'll just try to sleep without the mask propped up on the couch. Any tips?

Red-nosed,

Janie

Unfortuantely if you can't breathe you may have to go a night or two without. I recommend purchasing a Full Face Mask for such occasions.
I had the full mask but have very bad claustraphobia and was having a hard time sleeping.  I was given the swift FX to try and it is great.  Very quiet, seals well, etc.  I was also thinking about getting a cold or stuffy nose and the Swift FX would never work.  I am going to get another mask for those occasions.   Touch wood, I won't have to use it often.

Rock and Pat,

Thanks for your response. I've found that I've been able to sleep a few hours without it and then have been able to use it for part of each night. I'm managing but do intend to call about a full face mask.

Thanks,

Janie

I don't use the CPAP until I'm better. Counter-productive.
