What is the best way, if there is one, to start breatheing when you wake up not breatheing? The wife said it was 2-3 min. last nite till I started it seemed like half an hour!  She always wants to call an ambulance but I tell her it would take half an hour at least an id be brain dead anyway !

Matthew, as a fellow forum member I would like to welcome you to SleepGuide.  I read your question about not breathing and then saw you weren't being treated for sleep apnea.  You might want to invest in a CPAP machine if you stop breathing during the night.  At the very least consider a sleep test to see if you have obstructive or central sleep apnea.

Matthew, if you've been doing this since childhood, your luck is going to run out. Do you want a stroke? Or worse? You need to find a way to get tested for sleep apnea, do you have insurance? Even if it means going to the ER, if that's what it takes to see a specialist, maybe you have to  do it. Do you live in the boonies?

Talk to your doc about a sleep study. It may save your life.

So, how are you doing matthew?  Made any decisions about getting a sleep study and treatment if necessary?  Don't want you to fall through the cracks.
