Thanks for the pep talk - sometimes you just need to know that your not the only one facing all of life's issues. I've been using the machine a lot more and yes it does help. I guess my biggest problem is when I wake up during the night that I get up- usually to go to the bathroom and when I get back into bed, I just don't put it on. So I would guess that I'm using it about 4-5 hours a night. But I know that I should just put it back on again.

I am so sorry to hear that your husband had a bypass and you have had to take on more responsibilities. But, happy he is doing wll! I had a similiar situation several year's ago when my husband had surgery for a rare primary cancer. He had to give up a lot of his life's activities including work. I am the only one working now plus responsible fo seeing that he uses his CPAP as he should. I did notice that when he will not use the CPAP that he is terribe exhausted, tired and irritable during the day. When I "force" the issue and get him to use the CPAP, all that goes away during the day. I am suggesting that your day time tiredness may be due directly to not using the CPAP. When you skip it, the carbon dioxide builds up i your blood at night instead of being exhausted through your lungs. That is a waste material in the body which leads to the daytime sleepiness, tiredness, etc. Make yourself use the CPAP and I think you will see a big change. Good luck to you!
My problem is finding some more modern equpment for my husband who is "clinging" to his machine which is a Noah's Ark of about 13 year's old!
I feel for you. We women seem to be the care takers and take on all of it, always! We eed all the help we can get.
Be well!

Hi Patricia,

I was wondering how you were doing?

You might try some Pepcid Complete. I have been told that can help with the gas build up. It is over the counter and might be worth a try if you are still having some problems.

Do you sleep on your back or side? Which side do you sleep on when you do sleep on your side?
