My Interest in Sleep Apnea
I have Sleep Apnea, Someone I care about has Sleep Apnea, Other
Treatment Being Used, if any
CPAP
If Machine Being Used, What Type? (e.g., Respironics M Series with A-Flex Auto-Adjusting CPAP)
Puritan Bennett GoodKnight 4208
If Mask Being Used, What Type? (e.g., ResMed Activa Nasal Mask)
"Breeze" nasal pillows (don't have the box handy for the company name or model.)

I sure wish i could afford to replace and titrate my CPAP!

The last time i did, i got scammed. Be warned: when the sleep testing place tells you: "Your insurance will cover it all!" and then the insurance DOESN'T cover a dime of it - they WILL hound you relentlessly to pay for the expensive sleep study, services, equipment! Hellofa scam.

My mask has tape, hot glue, wire, and still can't be made to fit very well. I am 100% unable to sleep more than about 70 seconds at a stretch without my CPAP.

Anyone knows a way that someone with very little income can get these matters sorted, please let me know!

Software is optional and has to be purchased separately. I know that there is a copy of the software on cpapauction.com right now for sale. I wish I had a copy I could give you but I use a Respironics machine and thus different software.

Can you look at this link -- it is the puritan bennett site and tell which model you have -- a 4208 is not listed. But it should be one of these models so if you could look and let me know I would appreciate it.

I will try to get those instructions to you tomorrow if you like. I am getting ready for bed now -- have had a miserable cold and trying to get over it. Do you have the software? If not I can get you directions on how to change it without the software. Let me know if you want these directions -- and I will tell you that I have changed my pressure -- I go to my primary care doctor and never saw a sleep doctor. My pcp says I know more about sleep apnea and cpaps than she does and she is fully aware of any changes I make -- you gotta do what you gotta do in my opinion.
I am glad you are being proactive in your treatment!!

Keith, you might want to check out cpapauction.com. i think you can get rock bottom prices there --- haven't used them yet, but it's worth investigating.

Welcome, Keith. I think I had REM rebound myself. I also started dreaming again for the first time since I was a kid. Weirdness.

I am sure glad that the first sleep study techs warned me about "REM Rebound"! Ask about it! For me, my body had been barely getting ANY quality sleep for more than 20 years! And when i finally started sleeping deeply, i had about 20 days of feeling better than i ever did before, or ever have since! REM (Rapid Eye Movement) Rebound. If i hadn't been warned, the ENDing of that almost manic period of time would have teamed up with my lifelong depression, and it would have gotten SERIOUS ugly.

Enjoy the great feeling, but be ready for when you "catch up". It is sort of like the opposite of Jet Lag (scaled way up). Jet lag passes, and sadly this too shall pass. \c=
