Just came across this and it will be interesting to hear the outcome of this study on school children. Apparently, up to 12% of school-aged children have symptoms suggesting that during sleep they have brief periods when they stop breathing!

This study is the first known to use a placebo or sham positive airway pressure ventilator, created by Archbold and her research team, in school-aged children and compare it to actual positive airway pressure.
This is an interesting and valuable sudy. I sure would be interested in how they build a "sham" cpap machine.
