on a business trip and overhead the conversation of another guest in the hotel complaining about not being able to sleep last night because she forgot her mask nasal pillow at home.  She was trying to find a way to get them delivered to her at the hotel today so that she could sleep tonight. is there such a service -- that is, a service that will provide same day delivery to a hotel of CPAP supplies?  If not, there should be, right?

Well, I don't know about CPAP supplies but on our way to SC we slept over w/friends in KY and when I left KY I forgot the battery charger for the SeQual portable concentrator. When I got to SC and realized that I called a local DME provider (just picked them out of the phone book). They wouldn't rent me the battery charger but they would rent me a concentrator and any B tanks I needed.

My understanding is that DME providers as part of meeting Medicare requirements MUST provide 24 hour emergency contact and service. The catch is the definition of WHAT is an emergency. My own experience has been that an 02 adapter for my CPAP is NOT an emergency to my (at that time) local DME provider.

In a pinch many online retailers would give over night delivery for a hefty price.  This would require a prescription however. You could carry a prescription with you.  For masks I would pack a spare mask ( the last one you used before getting a new one would probably newest and best in my travel  case.  I would also make a check list and attach it to the case so

I would not forget any vital parts.  Forgetting part of my CPAP would be a bummer.  I don't think I could sleep without it.

done that when i left the inner mask at home

Nope

If you are able keep your eye out for a good, lightly used CPAP to purchase out of pocket to use as a backup and travel PAP. Keep everything you need in the carry case w/it so that you can just walk out the door and have all your needs w/o the risk of forgetting something.

If you've had your current PAP for 5 years or more and have insurance, insurance will usually purchase a new PAP for you every 5 years in which case you could have your insurance buy you a new up to date PAP and use your current PAP as a backup and travel PAP.

When you get new accessories such as mask, hose, etc. pack the current used one w/your backup in its carry case.

It is so nice to be able to just grab your backup out of the closet and walk out the door. And even nicer when arriving home all tuckered out to be able to just flop into bed w/your current PAP setup faithfully waiting for you and ready to let you sleep.

Try LinCare.  might be spelled LincCare.  I know they are nationwide.  I get ALL my supplies from them.  Since I travel all the time, I am always on the look out for them.  They at one time even swapped out my non-functioning machine two thousand miles from home.  I doubt they deliver but any taxi could get you there  to get what you need.  I swear by them..

Also,  they will let you purchase duplicate masks and supplies to build that travel pack  Judy was talking about.  And they are WAY cheaper than anywhere I have ever tried.  The only thing they will not do is sell you a new pump without a script.  Money talks.  when I paid cash for my second pump, it was almost HALF the price I had been quoted elsewhere.

Kate, did you ever check online DME providers such as cpap.com for your "out of pocket" duplicate supplies? I'm willing to bet cpap.com's prices are cheaper than Lincare's for out of pocket  duplicate accessories.

     Thanks for this info, Kate!

I looked it up. Here's the link:  http://www.lincare.com/

I tried two different on-line suppliers. LinCare beat them both by quite a bit.  My last mask liner, I was quoted, I think 60.00 on line. I paid 34.00 for it at LinCare, cash and carry.

I even took my semi to one of their stores and parked it on the shoulder of the street out front.  I got confused one time about what kind of filters I needed.  I live in Nebraska.  I was now in South Carolina.  They were able to look up my info and set me straight and get me the right fillters!  Priceless!
