Travel with XPAP machine and a laptop = a heavy hassle for me

I have taken two trips with both my laptop and my XPAP machine. I really dread leaving on another trip on Sunday for two main reasons. First, having both a laptop and a XPAP machine is really heavy to lift into the overhead compartment. Second, I dread the extra screen the XPAP machine gets at security. I know I'm not "supposed" to check my XPAP machine.....but I'm wondering if anyone has done that here to avoid the hassle. Also...has anyone ever seen a "mini" version for travelling?

Mary, what machine do you currently use? DON'T CHECK YOUR CPAP UNLESS YOU ENJOY PUZZLES. It will be ruined.
I have a Respironics M Series with AFlex.....guess I won't be checking the machine.....I'm not very good at puzzles....especially if I haven't had enough sleep (grin)...
Well, if you are willing to risk saying goodbye to your CPAP forever, or to not having access to it for the duration of your out of town stay, etc. then go ahead and check it as regular baggage.

Do a search at cpap.com They've featured some very lightweight xPAPs developed specifically for travel.
Thanks so much for the terrific advice. Does anyone have a recommendation based on your experience for a small travel sized machine? Also, if I use an APAP machine now....can I use a CPAP machine for travel?
hi Mary J -- thought you'd get a quicker response if i broke this out as a separate question, so check back on this topic about small travel size cpap machines for answers to your question.
