To unplug or not to unplug
I have been on a Vpap Auto 25 since May of 2008 and have been watching this Forum for a number of months now. I have many of my questions answered and many helpful suggestions for which I thank you all.
As you may know there is no shut off switch on the Vpap 25 and when not in use it goes into stand by mode. Ihave asked my sleep doctor and also my supplier if it should be unplugged when not in use and both gave me the same answer "I suppose it will use power if left pluged in" . I am not worried about the power it would use but will leaving it plugged in will shorten the life of the machine. Can anyone tell me what is best for the machine?

They are designed to be left plugged in. As with most electronics now-a-days, there is no switch that actually turns it off. This is not a good thing from an energy usage standpoint, but it is impractical to unplug everything to save energy. I would say that it is good to unplug it if you are going to be gone for several days, but I assume that you will be taking it with you. It you plug it into a switched power strip, you can easily switch it off to save energy.

I concur w/using a power strip to shut off your VPAP Auto 25 and all the other "stand by" applicances to save energy. We Americans are soooo good at devising ways to waste energy. Electric toothbrushes, electric carving knives, recreational ATVs, water jet skis, etc., etc. I remove my water tank from my VPAP Auto humidifier and place it in the bathroom where I keep my distilled water for it during the day.

I found out that when put in the standby mode the blower runs for about 20 at a very slow speed for the cool down of the machine and the humidifier. I do like the idea of a power strip and I didn't think of that. I will get up in the morning have my morning coffee and then turn off the power strip good idea
